TOPIC: PROBABILITY OF
DEPENDENT EVENTS
GOALS:
1) Recall the definition of dependent
events;
2) Find the probability of dependent
events; and
3) Relate dependent in real life
Game Mechanics:
1) Pass the box around while the music
is playing.
2) Once the music stops, the student
holding the box will have to pick one
candy, replace it, and then pick again.
3) Repeat steps 1 and 2 for three rounds.
3 GREEN CANDIES
5 YELLOW CANDIES
2 RED CANDIES

TOTAL # OF CANDIES= 10
Game Mechanics:

Probability of Two Dependent Events
The find the probability of two dependent
events A and B, multiply the probability of
event A by the probability of event B given that
event A has occured.
In symbols: P(AՈB)= P(A) x P(B│A).

Directions: Please have a partner and then
solve this.
In a certain test, 4 out of students got a perfect
score. You chose three students at random out
of 8 students without replacement.
Find the probability that all three are the ones
who got perfect score.
Mathinik Quiz Bee
I will give you a situation (events A and B), and
then, all you have to do is to solve for the
probability of the given events.
Write your group’s answer on the bond paper.

defective. If you purchase 4 tires for your vehicle
and they are randomly selected from a set of 50
newly delivered tires.

defective? (Once chosen, the tires are not
replaced)
