Cleaning robot detects obstacles

A photodiode (photo sensor) is

used for cleaning robot, serving
as the "eyes" to detect obstacles
in the path. The photodiode is
also used for detecting human
movement such as motion
sensors.
Atmospheric observation by Laser
beam
A technology called LIDAR or Light Detection
and Ranging emits a laser beam into the
atmosphere and utilizes photo sensors to
detect material such as suspended matter and
atmospheric molecules from the returning and
scattered light to in this way measure clouds,
particles in the atmosphere, and the state of
the surface of the earth. LIDAR is utilized in
fields including meteorology, geology,
seismology, atmospheric research, and remote
sensing.

significance
 1. Food:
 Photosynthesis is a concept in
biology where in food is synthesized
by see of light. Light is the sole
source of food generation for all
living organisms on the earth. Except
for a few chemotrophic bacteria
almost all living beings depend on
light for their food and energy.
2.Maintenance of temperature:

Light is a form of energy. And

sunlight has huge energy by
which the temperature on the
earth is maintained such that life
exists on the earth.
3. Maintains Body clock or circadian
rhythm :

Every day light keeps plants and animals

There is a clock inside both plants and
animals which keep them active during day
and relaxed at night. This clock is controlled

 Light especially it ultra violet component is a good
sterilizing agent. Haven’t you noticed in a super market
or hospital the use of UV lamps. These UV lamps are
good sterilizers. The UV rays kills the microbes in the air
keeping the area sterile. So UV light is classified under
dry method of sterilization.

 Sunlight
is an efficient sterilizing agent. When blankets
and other hospital mattress are dried in sunlight, all the
microbes get killed.

Sunlighthelps to generate green energy or

renewable energy.

Solar panels imbibe sun rays and convert it

into electric energy which can be used for
domestic needs.
