SITE INTRODUCTION PHYSICAL IMPACT

The site is located at Hirasar village which approximately 27 km from Rajkot. The total - Electrical facilities to be extended in the side
land acquired for the project is 2543 acres/1025 hectares which will be bifurcated into - Zoning and bye-laws needs to developed for the nearby area in consideration with
five divisions: 1. Airport development area which will consume 1754 acres, 2. Land for a the airport
green buffer which will consume 250 acres, 3. Land for defence research/paramilitary
establishment occupying 10 acres, 4. Land for aviation logistics park/training
development institute consuming 250 acres, 5. Cityside passenger amenities and
housing which will consume 270 acres of land.

The proposed site is approachable from state highway NH-8B which connects Rajkot and
Ahmedabad. As per the report stated by the engineers India limited, the plot area for
the airport is undulated with contours varying from el ~155m to ~208m above mean
sea level from south-west to north-east direction. The plot is sloping towards the
Machhu river in the west. From the information gathered from the survey and the locals,
the high flood level (HFL) of the proposed site is ~146m above mean sea level.

FEATURES OF AERODROME SITE

As per survey data, site elevation of Hirasar

Airport is very undulated having minimum
EL 150.37 near Machhu river in the west and
highest point is EL 218.71 m located at
northeast direction.

Nala & Quarries: The strata of proposed

site are rocky in nature and there are few
quarries located within the boundary limit.
There are various natural drainage channels
in the aerodrome boundary limit that carry
Water Body: There is an existing water body passing through
storm water runoff to Macchu River.
Airport boundary, which collects storm water of surrounding
areas through a stream. One check Dam located near 23 end of
the runway on this natural water channel creates a water
reservoir during monsoon/ rainy season. Entire 23 end of the
runway strip area remains inundated with water during rainy
season.
