GROUP MEMBERS :
• Electricity is an energy that plays a major role in
human life. In day to day life, each and every device
from machinery to wrist watch everything works on
electricity.
• In modern days we need it for many operations which
gives us comfort and makes our work easy.
• Generation and supply of electricity is the primary task
of electricity board but it is also important to measure
the power used by the consumer per day.
• The traditional method of energy meter billing is a
long outdated, inefficient and time consuming. As
the labours has to go door to door and give bill
slip of the utilization to the respective consumer.
• The electricity of the commans are measured with
the electric meter which is fixed at every
individual home.
• This is then periodically noted by electricity board
employee to calculate the energy consume.
• In order to resolve all this issues, an automatic
energy meter reading is proposed. By automating
the meter reading process the labour employed
could be reduced and they can be used for the
other works.
• As a result, automatic electricity bill concept is
developed in which the collection of meter reading,
processing of the reading and sending the bill to
customer is done automatically.
• The main goal of this work is to reduce the energy
consumption by notifiying the consumer
continuously about the amount of unit they have
consumed.
• The calculations are carried out automatically
and the bill is updated on the internet by the
help of wifi.
• The advantage of the proposed system is to
reduce the usage of electricity consumption and
utilising it for other purpose.
• The meter reading system has the benefits such as
transmission speed is quick, the realiability is high,
operating cost is low. This helps the commans to be aware
of the power and can reduce the energy if they feel that
they are over using it. Since everything is automatic,
human labour is reduced. Thus there are error free values,
hence accuracy is being preserved.
• The future work is to modifiy the proposed system for the
detection of the illegal use of electricity.
