OBJECTIVES:
Development of a system that can
indicate different current levels in
electronic equipments using basic
logic gates.
To construct the system for
indicating safe current margins.
INTRODUCTION
 While working with electronic components, we have
seen components facing a risk of getting damaged
due to excessive current. So in this project we
developed a system which warns us when there’s
any excess current in electronic equipments
compared to rated current. We are going to define a
certain current level as ‘Rated Current’ . Whenever
the current level is higher than rated current , the
safety system is going to alert us .
LITERATURE REVIEW:
 Our project works as a substitute for overcurrent relay or even high
voltage relay. Whereas relay sends signal for disconnecting the
circuit for rated current by energizing coil. In this project we don’t
need this kind of arrangement.
 Current Protection devices were first proposed in Paris Fair in 1900.
The important revolution of current protective device came into
practice in 1909 with induction-disc type inverse time current relays.
 Polarized DC current relays with better accuracy & sensitivity ere
developed in 1939.
 Initially the systems were electro-mechanical, then evolved to solid-
state & then to digital.
Nowadays we use artificial intelligence
(AI) methods for overcurrent protection
devices. This devices not only depend on
their hardware components, they work
with data processing algorithms.
METHODOLOGY:
 The current through any load changes depending on the value of
equivalent load of the whole system & the fluctuation in supply
voltage. In this system, we have some loads connected in a
parallel arrangement , where this loads have their rated current
& voltage. When the value of supply voltage fluctuates, the
current through the system also changes. As the voltage
increases, the current also increases. The system basically is
designed the change in current through it’s corresponding
voltage. The comparator senses the change in voltage &
compare it with the rated voltage. We have Two LEDs (Red &
Green) for indicating SAFE Level & DANGER level. The
NOT gate is going to decide which LED to glow.
WORK DONE:
 Since there are two ways of varying the current through a load
,in Proteus simulation we varied the loading arrangement .And
thus we saw the response of the system .But in practical
implementation we varied the supply voltage . And doing so
we saw the current varying through the load.

RESULT ANALYSIS:
CONCLUSION:
Our Project successfully demonstrated
current level indication for two different
levels ( SAFE & DANGER).
Our circuit was designed for a safety
margin of 100 milliAmperes. But
practically this value was confined
between 85 to 90 miliAmperes.
FUTURE WORK:
 To use this for sending signal to circuit breaker & completely
substitute relay.
 Although our project was deigned for 100 milliampere ,it can
be designed for any value that is required in practical purpose.
 As this module is very cheap, we can easily install it in
electronic appliances while manufacturing without exceeding
the moderate cost level.
