Self-discipline is the ability to control our feelings, overcome our weaknesses


and achieve our goals.

• Prepare a role-play script. The script should emphasise how you would
react to the situation.
• Perform the role-play as realistically as possible.

Summary

• Self-discipline is focusing on a task without being distracted and giving in to


temptations
• Self-discipline keeps us focused towards our goals.
• Self-discipline is a skill that we need to learn and develop with focus and
dedication.
• The five techniques to learning and practicing self-discipline are:
– Acknowledge and eliminate weakness(es)
– Establish a clear plan
– Remove temptations completely
– Tolerate emotional discomfort
– See the bigger rewards
• Temptations are a big hindrance to practicing self-discipline.
• Giving in to temptations brings only temporary satisfaction; avoiding them brings
long-term happiness
• Cultivating will power, determination as well as patience and endurance help us
resist temptations.
