Vapour compression refrigeration system.

h = Ethalpy
S = entropy
 A refrigerating machine using F12 as working fluid
works between the temperatures 18°C and 37°C. The
enthalpy of liquid at 37°C is 72 KJ/kg. The enthalpies
of F12 entering and leaving the compressor are 195
KJ/kg and 227 KJ/kg respectively. The rate of
circulation of refrigerant is 2 kg/min and efficiency of
compressor is 85% Determine
 Capacity of the plant in TONS of refrigeration.
 Power required to run the plant,
 COP of the plant.

 e-g pressure drop at condenser

 g-f heat gain by refrigerant before expansion from
pipe line.
 h-b pressure drop at evapourator due to friction.
 As evaporation proceeds , the volume and hence
the velocity(KE) also increases. This increase in
KE comes from the decrease in enthalpy and hence
there is further pressure drop.
