Battery Design
Some Important Components of Battery Construction:
1. Cell: basic electrochemical unit.
2. Active Materials: raw composition materials that
form the positive and negative plates.
3. Electrolyte: a conducting medium.
4. Grid: framework that support the active meterial on
a battery plate & conduct current.
5. Plate: consist of a grid & active material (electrode)
(thickness of grid & plate affect deep cycle ).

Some Important Components of Battery Construction:

6. Separator: a porous, insulation the +Ve & -Ve plates.


7. Element: stack of +Ve & -Ve plate group separators
assembled together.
8. Terminal Posts: external +Ve & -Ve electrical connection to a
battery.
9. Cell Vents: during charging & discharging gasses need to
vented to atmosphere.
10.Case: the case contain the plates, separators and electrolyte
in a battery.
