What is Adjustment
Layer?
 A special type of layer which
stores color and tonal adjustments
applied to the layers below it.
 Ideal to use in nondestructive
image editing.
 It does not change the pixels of
the original image because
adjustments are stored in a
separate layer.
 Multiple adjustment layers can be
applied to the image.

 Method 1: Using the menu
bar
1.Click [Layer]-[New
Adjustment Layers]
in the menu bar.
2.In the submenu, click
the adjustment layer
item that you want to
apply.

 Method 2: Using the Layers Palette


1.In the layers palette, click Create
new fill or the adjustment layer icon
2.From the pop-up menu, click the
adjustment layer item that you want
to apply.
Essential Adjustment
Layers
 Levels – It is used to adjust the image’s tonal range,
brightness, and contrast.
 Curve – provides more control in adjusting tonal range
compared to levels.
 Brightness/Contrast – It is used to make a simple tonal
range adjustment .
 Black and White – It is used to convert a colored image to
black and white.
 Hue/Saturation – It is use to adjust image color,
saturation, and brightness.
 Gradient Map – It applies gradient fill to the
corresponding tonal range of the image.
