JHS STUDENTS’

ORIENTATION
GRADE 10
AUGUST 24, 2020
Opening Prayer
God of all beginnings and endings, we worship you for keeping us
safe and sane at this time of adversity. Forgive us for being overcome
by fear and frustration. Thank you for the loving assurance that all
shall be well. Help us to become more open-minded and cooperative
now more than ever.
Father, thank you for every person here, today. Bless this meeting, and
all those present, as well as the lives of those we will encounter
afterwards. Ready us to make every moment count. We ask this in
name of Jesus our Lord. Amen.
St. Augustine our Father! Pray for us.

GUIDELINES FOR ONLINE
DISTANCE LEARNING (ODL) CLASS

To ensure that the online class will remain

academic and focused, learners are expected to
adhere to these “netiquette” guidelines.
Before Online Classes:
◦ Find a learning SPACE for attending online classes - a personal
learning space (a table and a chair will do). This dedicated space
should have a good lighting, good internet connection and is free
from distractions.
◦ Be PUNCTUAL in online classes. Login 10 minutes before your
scheduled online class
◦ Wear APPROPRIATE/prescribed clothing and be modest in
appearance (K-12: simple T-shirt and pants).
During Online Classes:
◦ Maintain RESPECT at all times most especially when the
teacher/instructor is discussing or when your fellow
student is explaining/speaking. Think of the online class as
an actual class wherein students are expected to
communicate politely.
◦ Stay on MUTE mode, and use the chat box or click
appropriate icons/button to call the teacher’s attention if
you like to speak, share ideas or to ask questions.
During Online Classes:
◦ Enable Video during video conferencing or
synchronous meetings so that teachers could
virtually connect to you in class.
◦ Use the chat box inquiries after the teacher is done
discussing his/her lessons. Using ALL CAPS,
disturbing emoticons and GIFS are strongly
discouraged.
During Online Classes:
◦ Demonstrate respect and discipline. If you feel the need to
disagree, do so respectfully and acknowledge the valid
points in your classmate’s argument. Acknowledge that the
other is entitled to have her/his perspectives on the issue
raised.
◦ Refrain from chewing gums, eating or drinking during
video conferencing or synchronous meetings. Chat box
may be used or other icons to signal the need to be excused
from the Online Class.
Recommended Gadgets
For Grade 7 to 10, the pupil may use any device that is capable of the all the functions.
◦ connecting to the internet to access websites or search for information/data
◦ taking photos and videos (camera)
◦ joining a video call and online discussion (camera, microphone)
◦ creating documents and presentations
◦ recording audio file
◦ editing photos
◦ editing videos
◦ recording screens
During Modular Sessions
◦ Learners are expected to observe TIME MANAGEMENT at all times.
◦ Learners must clarify vague information.
◦ Find a learning space where you are most comfortable at.
◦ Refrain from eating and drinking when answering your Modules(thus might
cause filthy materials for submission)
