Note Patterns

The BIG Idea

Observing the correct
duration of notes
gives direction to the
flow of music.
Notes
There is another musical symbol
that guides you in the movement of
music. You call them notes. They
represent short and long sounds or
duration in music.
Kinds of Notes
There are four basic kinds of notes.
Each note has different feature and its
own time of value. All kinds of note have
a head. Some heads are hallow. Others
are shaded. Some notes have either just
a stem or a stem with a hook.

UNIT 1
Experiencing the
Beauty of Art
The BIG Question..
How do you use
different lines,
shapes, colors, and
texture to express
feelings and
emotions?
Lesson 2:
Shape It!

The BIG Idea

You can recognize
and identify objects
around you by their
shape.
A geometric shape is the
geometric information
which remains when
location, scale, orientation
and reflection are removed
from the description of a
geometric object.
Organic shapes are defined
as shapes that are irregular or
asymmetrical in appearance
and tend to have a curvy flow
to them. Nearly
all shapes found in nature
are organic in appearance.
Examples are leaves, flowers
etc.

are they
found?
Practice
no. 1

On a piece of paper draw different

objects using geometric and organic
shapes. Then identify the objects in
each drawing by looking at their
shapes.
REMEMBER
• A shape is formed when the end points of a line meet to enclose a
space.
• The two kinds of shapes are geometric and organic.
• Geometric shapes such as circles, squares, rectangles, ovals, and
triangles are made by people.
• Organic shapes are found in nature. They are irregular and free-
from.
• A picture has unity when the same shapes and colors are used
over and over again in a design.

GYMNASTIC
ACTIVITIES

The BIG
Question…..
How are the
gymnastic are
healthy.
Lesson 2:
Body Shapes and Actions

The BIG Idea

Did you know that
every time we move
our body parts, we can create
shapes?
Body Shape and Actions

The actions you have done show that you have body
shapes. These body shapes may be stretch, curled, tuck,
and twisted.
You can show a body shape while balancing your body.
The body actions you are doing everyday like, walking,
standing, and sitting are needed to develop your body
shapes in preparation to various movement activities in
physical education.
STRETCH – you do this body shape when
you extend your body or limbs (arms and
legs).

CURL – You do this body shape when you

form your body into a curved or spiral
shape.

TUCK – You do this body shape when you

bend your knees, draw your thighs closely
to your chest, and clasp your hands around
your legs.

TWIST – You do this body shape when you

turn a part of your body to form a curl or
spiral shape while the rest of the body is
fixed.
With all these body shapes and body actions,
you will be ready with all the physical fitness.
Physical fitness is the capacity to carry out the
day’s activities. It is very important for our
health and well-being.
Do you walk and run every day? How do you
move your legs? Your arms? Simple movements
involve various parts of the body. These
movements can be performed in limited spaces
and facilities.
