70 Past simple: regular verbs

Present Past
1 To make the past simple, we add -ed. finish finished
walk walked

2 When the verb ends in -e, we add -d arrive arrived


close closed

3 When the verb has a short vowel and stop stopped


one consonant, we usually double travel travelled
consonant.
4 The past simple is the same for all subjects.
I arrived. We arrived.
She arrived. You arrived.
He arrived. They arrived.
