Simple present tense:

We have two structures in simple present tense.


1. For singular subjects.
2. For plural subjects.
1. Structure for Singular subjects:
Subject + verb + s/ es/ ies + complement.
2. Structure for plural subjects:
Subject + base form of the verb + complement.
Definitions:
Simple past tense: Expresses an action or
situation which started and finished at a
particular time in the past.

Examples:
Sami went to Kabul three days ago.

They played cricket last week.


Simple past tense:
Structure:
subject + 2nd form of verb + complement.
e.g. I went to school yesterday.
sub + 2nd form of verb + complement.

e.g. They played football last Friday.


sub + 2nd form of verb + complement.

e.g. We studied present tense last week.


sub + 2nd form of verb + complement.
Make these sentences:
1. We rice two days a go.
A . eat. B. eaten. C. eated. D. ate.
2. Ali in hospital last year.
A. workd. B. work. C. worked. D. working.
3. She meatball last night.
A. cook. B. cookd. C. cooking. D. cooked.
4. They math last month.

Definitions:
Simple Future Tense: Expresses an action or
situation which will or will not happen in the
future.
Examples:
I will come to class next week. (action).
The weather will be sunny tomorrow.

1. Present Continuous Tense: Expresses an


action which is happening right now or at the
moment of speaking.
2. Present Continuous Tense: Is used to talk
about activities In the present, or things that
are going on or happening now.
Make these sentences:
Liala studying math now.

A. teaches. B. taught C. I am teaching.

Past continuous tense:
Structure:
Subject + was/were + verb + ing +complement.
E .g. Wali was going to home yesterday.
sub + was + verb +ing + comp.
E.g. We were playing football last week.
E.g. They were studying last night.
E.g. She was cooking meat yesterday.
Examples:
He washing the dishes yesterday.

We cleaning the kitchen last week.

They watching T.V last night.

She going to school two weeks ago.

Future continuous tense:
Structure:
Subject + will/be going to +be + verb + ing
+ complement.
E .g. I will be teaching English tomorrow.
sub+will + be + verb + ing + complement.

I am going to be teaching tomorrow.


sub +be + going to +be verb + ing + complement
Examples:
Right now I am teaching English.
At the same time tomorrow, I will be teaching
English.
(I am going to be teaching English tomorrow.)

I will be meeting my brother tomorrow.

We will be leaving the class at 7:00 tomorrow.
