PROPOSAL MAKING
NSTP 1: CTWS 1
INTRODUCTION
 Module 5 aims you to understand the
concept of project proposal.
 The project proposal will give you the idea
on what will you be expecting to do for
NSTP 2.
 The project proposal is an evidence on how
you will be a good responsible Louisian
and a good citizen by being aware and
immersing yourself within your
community.
UNIT LEARNING OUTCOMES:

immersion.
2. Synthesize the community welfare training
service of NSTP 1 students through an immersion.

UNIT 1: COMMUNITY IMMERSION AND PROJECT

PROPOSAL
BASIC CONCEPTS ABOUT COMMUNITY IMMERSION

 Community immersion is one of the

requirements for National Service
Training Program (NSTP). NSTP
students are expected to initiate
community-based interventions in the
form of projects and activities meant
to address the multi- faceted issues
and concerns of the people in the area
of service.
COMMUNITY IMMERSION
 a strategy in community organization that is sought to imbibe
among the NSTP students a better understanding and
realization of the different community concerns through the
exposure on actual life situations in the communities.
 It is a form of service learning that is integrated with the
students’ passion and interest that is designed to bridge the gap
between the theoretical instruction and actual implementation
of work through experiential learning.
 This activity provides the students an opportunity to use their
newly acquired knowledge and skills in real life situations in
their own communities.
COMMUNITY IMMERSION
 fulfils many of the school’s goal for the students-
becoming involved citizens, community
solidarity, learning worthwhile tasks, developing
leadership, advocacy and problem-solving skills.
 It also help in fostering a sense of care for others
through direct involvement. (Waddell, 2013)
PRINCIPLES IN COMMUNITY IMMERSION

strategy in community organizing work

engaging in different activities.

2. Forms of Integration in Community Immersion
 Home visit

 Living with selected families or community

 Informal discussions with individuals and groups
 Sharing in household and community activities

 Participation and involvement on social gathering

 Assistance in production work
Before immersing yourself in the community it is important that
you are knowledgeable on the place you’re going to immerse. A
good community profiling will help you understand how you can
cope up with the community especially to the people living there. A
simple idea or barangay ordinances will be a great help for you to
have an idea on the way of living. You must learn to communicate
to them to have a good relationship.

COMMUNITY IMMERSION PROTOCOLS

PROCESS OF COMMUNITY IMMERSION

 After identifying the location

where you will implement
your project the following
should also be considered:
PRE-IMMERSION

1. Organize an initial meeting and interview to the

locals. If applicable)
2. 2. Conduct a site or ocular inspection.
3. 3. Establishing a set of criteria for choosing the
area for community immersion.
4. 4. Establish partnership with the community
stakeholders.
5. 5. Project Planning
IMPLEMENTATION
 The plan that was initially formulated with
the community is now put into action. The
moment you put into practice the plans and
project proposals you have to document in
any possible way. It is important to write
minutes of the activities that you will do to
have a more organize and set
documentation.
TERMINATION OF PROJECT
 This is the phase when the project
organizers starts to withdraw from the
community because the goals set by the
community and organizers have been
achieved. Remember that prior to this, the
organizers must prepare the community
before phasing out.
UNIT LEARNING OUTCOMES:
1. Discuss the distinctive characteristics and importance
of SLP as a Louisian and future professional.
2. Practice the standard operating procedures and
establish protocols governing SLU community
immersion.

UNIT 2: PROJECT IMPLEMENTATION

 Whenever you start a project you need to complete a
project proposal document.
 The project proposal is used to set roadmap for the
project to ensure that everyone is working g towards
the same goals.
 A project proposal is also used to convince that a
project needs to be kicked-off to solve a particular
problem or opportunity.
 It describes in depth, how project is going to be
commenced so that the participants understands what is
involved.
SLU SERVICE LEARNING PLAN
 The project proposal making in our
university follows a specific format in
creating a project proposal plan. The service
learning plan serves as a summary that tells
the reader what the project is, why it is
important, and how it will be carried out.
