Leveraging Human

Design in
Organizational
Culture
by: Sarita Yasmin
“In an increasingly competitive global work
environment, the modern workplace asks more of its
workforce than credentials, specialization, or even the
willingness to work hard. In order to become robust
and resilient and grow in a sustainable manner, the
modern organization must be healthy from within —
starting with its employees.”
Human Design: Recruitment
and Retention
● If you’re looking for new types of recruiting tools
to provide better insights into your potential
candidates or want to increase employee
satisfaction and well-being, it is time to add
Human Design insights to your recruitment and
retention strategy.
What is Human Design?
● Companies have long used personality frameworks
like MBTI or DiSC to assess the strengths and
weaknesses of its employees to aid in productivity,
interpersonal dynamics, and morale. The Human
Design system builds on that, and then adds an
energetic component.
It is essentially a roadmap for individual human
understanding and how to best manage their energy
based on their unique energetic bodies.
Human Design is able to give valuable insights on the
individual's life, work style, communication style,
relationship style and exactly how it affects their
physical and mental health.
At the high level of Human Design, there
are five types.
Each type plays a critical role in the
interactions between humans.
Generator
As the ‘worker bees’ of the hive, Generators make up about 70% of the population. They have
powerful internal motors that allow them to churn out work. With their consistent access to drive
and energy, these types are here to create, build, and generate. Giving them permission to respond
to what lights them up is key and will amplify their energy rather than drain it, making them the
powerhouses of any organization or venture.

➔ Strategy
Wait to Respond

➔ Best ways to work

Generators are great in many different roles, they are often the members of the team who
take direction really well, and can execute on a task with a high level of efficiency. When
one of these individuals starts to express a lack of energy, this may be a sign their job
satisfaction is dwindling..
Manifestor
As “The Innovators”, Manifestors make up roughly 9% of the population. Manifestors are the fire-
starters of the team. They are the entrepreneurs of the group and are constantly innovating. They
sometimes act independently to a fault. When unaware, they tend to just decide what they want to
do and then do it and they end up taking action without letting anyone else know, which can result
in conflict in the workplace.

➔ Strategy
Inform others of what they are doing

➔ Best ways to work

They are the ones with endless ideas and who amplify energies of those around them. It’s
easy to recognize the manifestors on your team based on how they handle direction. These
types are often more inclined to work independently. Although they can work very well with
others too, there is one condition. They must feel their voice is heard, and they are respected.
Projector
As “The Advisors”, Projectors make up about 20 percent of the population. They have an inborn
vision and projective energy that allows them to guide others. Projectors are the ones on the team that
are built to learn, inform, and then create.

➔ Strategy
Wait to be invited

➔ Best ways to work

Within the workplace, these design types make incredible teachers, coaches, and team
leaders, and managers. Projectors naturally create and share their work with others without
any expectations. However, if a projector tries to initiate, they may be met with resistance. It
is in a projector’s best interest to create continually and show up so others see what they are
doing, in order to be noticed and called upon.
Reflector
As “The Evaluators”, Reflectors are the rarest type, making up about 1% of the population. They are the
ones in your team that need to talk things over, preferably with someone they trust before making a
decision. Reflectors often try to operate like generators in their work, but when they do, they easily
become susceptible to burnout. These design types cannot maintain the same level of energy as their
generator co-workers.

➔ Strategy
Allow time to make decisions

➔ Best ways to work

They are excellent evaluators and provide a mirror to our organisations to show us what we're
doing and how we're doing it. They have the potential to be objective and remain outside of
things. Inside situations, they embody its characteristics and allow others to see things from
outside themselves as well. Reflectors can see the progression over time as a group matures and
develops, giving people feedback, and seeing what impact they have at different times.
The Bodygraph Reading Includes:
Individual Bodygraph readings are in-depth, 60-minute sessions designed to
help you understand how to take your chart and turn it into to actionable
growth, change, expansion, and success. They are an opportunity to learn and
increase your self-awareness and ability to thrive in your environments.
The practical application of this knowledge enables your employees to
effectively manage themselves, and also to become more effective and
compassionate leaders and teammates with a deep understanding of how to
best communicate with and support different types within the company.
Human Design: Recruitment and Retention

● Incorporating the knowledge of Human Design into your recruitment and retention
strategies is key to lasting success. The more comfortable your employees are in
their environments, the better they perform. As a result, they are more likely to stay
within the company.
As you can see, knowing the design types of your employees is incredibly insightful.
The full bodygraph even more so. It provides you with a tool for how to best
manage your team, how to distribute the workload, and highlights the strengths and
weaknesses of every individual so you can know how to best use the resources
available to you.
This contributes to a positive work culture that leads to increased employee-
satisfaction and an aid in each individual team-members’ mental and holistic health.
