Basic rules for Domain Names at Sanofi

● All Domain Names must be registered in the Sanofi Global DN portfolio

● Agencies submit their DN registration proposal to the Sanofi project
leader/employee requestor that liaise with the Sanofi DN team
● NB : Domain direct registration from Agencies isn’t allowed and will generate a
mandatory transfer to Sanofi Names Servers and Global DN Portfolio, this is a loss
of time for everyone.
● All Domain Names must be delegated to our Name Servers (the NS record)
● ns1 to ns4.sanofi-synthelabo.com
● All Domain Names pointing request must be validated by the Sanofi project
leader/employee requestor
● In case the external partner/vendor submit a DN pointing form, the Sanofi project
leader/employee requestor must be in cc.
● The DN process isn’t part of PROMISE
● No need to call the helpdesk to create a ticket, you can contact us directly.

● For any specific need or question (ex: Saas platform), please contact us at
dn-domain-names-management@sanofi.com before sending your request

DN key points

● Sanofi Internet Policy defines the roles and responsibilities of the Domain
Names process
● We own our DNS servers (ITS management)
● We manage the security of our core systems (ITS management)
● Some domains (ex: sanofi.com) are configured in split-brains (records
modification have to be done simultaneously on the external DNS and the
internal DNS). The internal DNS is only accessible within Sanofi network.
● In case of merger & acquisition we entirely manage the transfer in /out, (we
can also register anonymously domains for future brands/products)
● A single point of contact for all DN related requests, a crucial advantage to
shorten reaction time in case of crisis management (ex. Vioxx vs Acomplia)
