Substance Abuse
 What is substance abuse?
 When we are sick, doctors give us medicines to use.
- When given those medicines we are told how much to take.
- If we follow the doctors instructions we are not abusing drugs.
- However, if we take more of these medicines than we are told, then we are
abusing them.
- When we take drugs or medicines more than we are told, it is called substance
abuse.
- Substances that can be abused are alcohol, wine, beer or medicines.
- Other people sniff substances like petrol or glue.
- Abusing substances is very dangerous it damages our bodies and makes us sick.
 Alcohol
 Alcohol is a substance found in beer and wine.
 It is a drug.
 If alcohol is taken into the body, it changes the way the person feels and acts.
 Only adults are allowed to buy alcohol.
 Children should not drink alcohol.

Smoking Is Dangerous
 People usually smoke cigarettes.
 Cigarettes contain nicotine.
 Nicotine is a drug found in the tobacco plant.
 Nicotine damages your body especially lungs.
 It makes your teeth yellow and it makes you cough badly.
 Smoking is not only bad for the person who does it, it is also bad for the
person around him.
