Objectives:

patriotism.

that exist in our society.
• Identify the meaning of patriotism.
• List some ways on how to execute patriotism.
• Distinguish the people who set an example of
loving the country.

Loving our Country = Loving the people
 Patriotism vs. Nationalism
 
Patriotism can be defined simply as love of country—it's a love that
seems to include much of the world's population. It's the kind of
love that makes you thankful you're a Filipino whenever you hear
the National Anthem, or that makes you thankful you're British
whenever you hear "God Save the Queen," or that makes you
thankful you're from whatever country whenever your country
wins an Olympic medal. It's that feeling of altruistic gratitude for
freedom, or democracy, or culture, or any of the other values
people around the world treasure in their nation.
 
 
 Patriotism vs. Nationalism
  
Nationalism, on the other hand, takes that love of
country and expands it to mean love of country at
the expense of other nations. It's when someone
believes they are better because they come from
a particular place, or that someone else is less
valuable because of the country that issued their
passport.

 Having a great passion or love for your country can
help you learn about your nation's history and
become a better member of your national
community. Learning how to love your country, or
learning how to love your country even more,
happens through becoming familiar with your
country's culture and history and taking an active role
as a citizen. And once you develop a sense of what it
means to live in your nation, you can start displaying
your patriotism by wearing symbolic clothing, flying
the flag, celebrating national holidays, and devoting
yourself to making your country the best place to be!

• Empathy
~This is respect where others are coming from,
taking their situations, conditions, feelings and
motives seriously.

• Patience
~A virtue that you need to endure the delay,
trouble, pain, or hardship and be positive that his
honest efforts will lead him to the realization of
his dreams.
• Forgiveness
~This kind of virtue is to give others a chance to
change themselves for the better by dismissing his
anger towards those who have caused him pain.

• Loyalty
~It is the ability to stick to a friend through
thick or thin.

• Pray for the leaders in our country that God may
grant wisdom as they lead the country as God’s will
and purpose.
• Defend our country by all means. Using/Buying our
own products is one way of helping our economy.
• Trust and obey the authorities. They are allowed by
God to hold that position so we are ought to obey
them. If there are wrongdoings let God give a fair
judgement and consequences.
• Respect all people and show kindness to them. Be
an example of a good Filipino.
