What is

powerpoint?
Powerpoint
 is a complete presentation graphics package.
It gives you everything you need to produce
a professional-looking presentation.
PowerPoint offers word processing,
outlining, drawing, graphing, and
presentation management tools- all designed
to be easy to use and learn.
The following gives you a quick overview of what you can do in PowerPoint:
 When you create a presentation using PowerPoint, the presentation is made
up of a series of slides. The slides that you create using PowerPoint can also
be presented as overhead transparencies or 35mm slides.
 In addition to slides, you can print audience handouts, outlines, and speaker's
notes.
 You can format all the slides in a presentation using the powerful Slide
Master which will be covered in the tutorial.

 You can keep your entire presentation in a single file- all your slides, speaker's
notes, and audience handouts.

 You can import what you have created in other Microsoft products, such as Word
and Excel into any of your slides.

1.Open PowerPoint. You will see a blank screen with two boxes in the middle of
the screen. One of the boxes says "Click to add title," the other says "Click to add
subtitle."
2.On the tab at the upper left side of your screen, hit the "File" tab
3.On the vertical toolbar to the left, hit the "New" tab

is a slideshow with a preloaded background that is designed for specific
presentations, such as an itinerary or a status report.

presentation. If you don't find the kind of template you need for your presentation,

up top. You can also create a new slide with the shortcut (Ctrl + M).

however, less is often more.
11.Once you are finished with your PowerPoint presentation, go to "File >
Save As" and save your file so that you can retrieve it later.
12.When you want to view your presentation as a series of slides, click on the
"Slide Show" tab and then click on "From Beginning" top left. To filter through
your slides, click the left and right arrows on your keypad to go back and
forward, respectively.
What are the Advantages of PowerPoint
Presentation?
 Utilizing engaging audio and video in a PowerPoint presentation can help keep
the audience interested in the material. Video and audio also help the
presenter better interact with the audience and deliver an "off the cuff"
presentation that's less scripted and rigid. It's best that the presentation
contain the right balance of audio, video and verbal material to ensure the
main message is not diluted.
 The advantages of PowerPoint presentations include helping the audience
focus on the message, creating a collaborative environment, and being
able to easily share the presentation and information with individuals who
were unable to attend the original presentation. PowerPoint presentations
can also help ease the speaker's anxiety by focusing the audience's attention
on the slides, text and images.
 PowerPoint presentations can also help support teamwork in an office setting.
Such presentations allow different team members to leave comments on
individual slides and screens for others to view. Such comments can help
clear up any confusion concerning material created by various team
members.
 PowerPoint presentations can be shared worldwide and uploaded to various
websites, where they can be viewed by the speaker's target audience. Such
presentations are ideal for individuals who prefer a text-heavy presentation
as well as those who enjoy a presentation that uses an abundance of images
Three Disadvantages of PowerPoin
t Presentations
 PowerPoint presentations lack flexibility. Using the PowerPoint program, you
can create, format and edit slides before a presentation. However, you
cannot edit or change the contents and the format of the slides during a
presentation. If a slide contains an error, you cannot edit it right away
without exiting the PowerPoint show. An error made before a report cannot
be rectified during the presentation. Any error could be prevented by
carefully proofreading the slides before making the presentation.
 Students and teachers have tendencies to induce “Death by PowerPoint.” The
term refers to state of boredom and fatigue brought about by too much
information placed on the slides. Too much information on slides is
counterproductive. Though it may save time, placing too much information on
slides would reduce the ability of the audience to retain the message
conveyed by the report. To prevent this, the presenter should place only the
important details and use bullet points.
 PowerPoint presentations may negatively affect the value of the report.
There are students who get too lazy and just read the text as indicated in the
slides. The slides are not the source of the report, but rather the reporter or
the presenter. The slides are just presentation props that add value and style
to the report. It is the reporter or the presenter who brings the all-important
substance to the report.
