other similar structures, quantity shall be computed
based on the dimensions shown on drawings and
computed in cum. Excavation over increased width,
cutting to slopes, shoring and planking shall be deemed
to be included and shall not be measured separately
5. Preparation of rock foundations shall be measured in
sqm. and includes sealing, dewatering, pumping

The measurement of fill material from borrow areas
shall be the difference between the net quantities of
compacted fill and the net quantities of suitable material

Computed compacted fill shall ignore bulking or
shrinkage.
7. Turfing with sods/ seeding & mulching shall be
measured as finished work in sqm.

account of lower CBR/UCS value shall be constructed by
the contractor at his own cost.

22. Reinforcement 1. Reinforcement shall be measured in length including
hooks, excluding overlaps and weight calculated in MT.
Wastage, overlaps, couplings, welded joints, spacer
bars, chairs, stays, hangers, binding wire shall not be
measured and cost of these items is deemed to be
included in the rates for reinforcement.
23. Structural concrete 1. Measured in cum. Volume occupied by reinforcement,
pre-stressing cables, sheathing shall not be deducted.
The slab shall be measured as running continuously
through and the beam as the portion below the slab
24. Pre-stressed concrete 1. Concrete measured in cum
2. High tensile steel shall be measured as actually
incorporated and calculated in MT
3. Anchorage devices, additional length for attaching
jacks, ducts, sheathing, grout, non pre-stressed steel
fixed to the anchorages, samples for testing not
measured separately

25. Structural steel 1. Net weight based on nominal weight shall be computed
in MT. Weight shall be calculated based on actual cut
sizes of members
2. Weight of castings shall be computed from dimensions
with addition of 5% for fillets and over-runs

be measured
4. The weight of rivets shall be computed by taking weight
of 100 snap heads or taken as 3%
26. Bearings 1. Bearings shall be measured in numbers, according to
their capacities
2. Quantity of elastomeric bearings shall be measured in
cubic centimetres of finished dimensions

27. Surface and sub-surface 1. In case of bridge and road structures, the work of
geotechnical boring and trial pits shall be considered as incidental to
explorations the foundation works and nothing extra payable unless
specified. Boring where specified, shall be measured in

samples by number of tests.
28. Expansion joints 1. Measured in Rm and includes sealant for the depth
specified
29. Wearing coat & 1. Cement concrete wearing coat shall be measured in

2. Electrical Works: Circuit breakers

Ranges: 100 125, 160, 200, 250, 315, 400, 630,

c) Current rating of Air circuit breakers (ACB):

Main circuits:
1. For the purpose of measurement, main is
defined as the incoming supply to the main
distribution board within a building or
complex.
2. Cable shall be measured by length

Sub-main circuits:
1. For the purpose of measurement, sub main is
defined as the supply from the main
distribution board to a sub main distribution
board
2. Cable and conduit to individual sub main
circuits shall be enumerated, alternately, it
may be measured by length

Method of measurement of electrical works:


Final Sub circuits and auxiliary installations:
Cable and conduit to termination points shall
be enumerated, classified as follows:
1. Lighting points
2. Lighting switch points, stating whether one
way, two way or intermediate
3. General purpose socket outlets, multi-gang
socket outlets shall count as one point

4. Equipment points, stating type of equipment


or the electrical rating, contactors, starters or
the like shall be measured separately as
equipment points
5. Auxiliary installation points (bell push,
telephone outlet)
6. Accessories: Ceiling roses and pendants,

or the like shall be enumerated.

7. Control gear: Switch gear, distribution gear,


contactors, starters, or the like shall be

8. Equipment: Transformers, generators,

Water supply Lines:
 Pipes shall be classified according to diameter, length of
each pipe, kind & quality of material, method of jointing in
RM along centre line of pipes and fittings
 All fittings or specials shall be enumerated separately as
extra over pipes. Cutting & jointing the pipes to such
specials shall be deemed to be included with the item of
fittings
 Alternatively, - do- as above and all fittings or specials shall
be fully described and enumerated separately

Water supply Lines:
 Measurement of testing of pipe line shall be in RM
 Supports like hangers, pillars, crossing of railway line and
culverts, reconditioning of pavements shall be measured
separately
Sewer Lines:
 Shall be classified according to the diameter, length of each pipe,
kind and quality material, method of fixing.
 Measurement shall be along centre line. All fittings and specials
shall be enumerated separately as extra over the sewer. The pipe
length shall be measured between internal faces of manholes.

Water supply Lines:
 Alternatively, -do- all joints, fittings or specials shall
be fully described and enumerated.
 Manholes: The manholes and inspection chambers
shall be measured in detail/enumerated ,say, up to ½
m, ½-1m, 1-2m, 2-3m depth and so on. The
manholes shall be measured item wise or
enumerated with specific range of depths.

Ducting:
1. Rectangular duct work shall be measured by weight,
based upon the area calculated as the length, taken
along the centre line over all fittings.
2. Blank ends shall be added to the area but no
deductions shall be made for intersections and
openings. Extra weight of seams, stiffeners,
supports, fixings or the like shall be understood to
be included.
3. Circular, oval and flexible duct work shall be
measured by length taken along centre line over all
fittings.

Ducting:
4. Fittings to rectangular duct work shall be understood
to be included. Fittings to circular and oval duct
work shall be enumerated.
5. Dampers, grilles, flexible connectors or the like shall
be enumerated.
6. Accessories or activating devices (thermostats,
humidistats, motorised valves), control panels, air
compressors shall be enumerated. Wiring,
pneumatic tubing, isolators, starters, relays or like
associated with automatic controls shall be
understood to be included.
