METHODOLOGY
OF RESEARCH
RESEARCH TITLE:
EXTENT OF ICT UTILIZATION:
BASIS OF TRAINING DESIGN
FOR TEACHERS IN PACUAN
NATIONAL HIGH SCHOOL

2
STATEMENT OF THE PROBLEM

This study aims to determine the extent of the

utilization of Information and Communication
Technology in Pacuan National High School.

3
STATEMENT OF THE PROBLEM cont.
1. What is the demographic profile of the
respondents in terms of:
❑1.1. sex;
❑1.2. age;
❑1.3. educational attainment;
❑1.4. length of service; and
❑1.5 subject/s handled?
4
STATEMENT OF THE PROBLEM cont.
2. What is the extent of knowledge in the use of
ICT integration by teachers in Pacuan National High
School?
3. What is the extent of support did the
administration do to implement the integration of
ICT in Pacuan National High School.
4. What is the extent of ICT use of respondents?

5
STATEMENT OF THE PROBLEM cont.
5. Is there a significant difference in the extent of
use of ICT equipment among: age, group of
respondents, subjects handled?

6. What training design or intervention could be

developed in the course of the integration of ICT in
Pacuan National High School?

6
SIGNIFICANCE OF THE STUDY

The significance of this study may be used as basis of

training design for teachers in Pacuan National High
School and its administrators in education that could help
the teachers be more effective and efficient in the
delivery of quality education.

7
SIGNIFICANCE OF THE STUDY (cont.)

Also, the findings may be used as a baseline data to

generate strategies on increasing the level of ICT
integration in the field of education. The study may
further indicate the capacity building gaps which may be
useful in formulating framework to empower ICT users in
integrating ICT in the secondary school curriculum.

Definition of terms
For the purpose of clarification, the important terms used in
this study have ben defined. The following terms are:
Administrative support – refers to the existence support
of the principal in terms of using ICT equipment.
Attitude of respondent on the use of ICT Equipment -
refers to the perception of the respondent in terms of using
ICT equipment in teaching. 9
Definition of terms (cont.)
DepEd Computerization Program (DCP) – refers to a
DepEd program that aims to provide public schools with
appropriate technologies that would enhance the teaching-
learning process and meet the challenges of the 21st century.
Educational Attainment - refers to the highest level of
education that an individual has completed. 10
Definition of terms (cont.)
Extent of Use of ICT Equipment – refers to the degree or
level of teacher’s use in ICT equipment in the classroom.
Knowledge on ICT equipment and its use - refers to the
knowledge, understanding and learning a teacher has in the
use of ICT equipment.
11
Definition of terms (cont.)
Length of Service - refers to the duration of
service or employment. Often used to indicate how long an
employee has worked at a company or an individual has
belonged to an organization.

12
Theoretical Framework

The theoretical framework used in this study is based on

the Theory of Planned Behavior. The Theory of
Planned Behavior (TPB) started as the Theory of
Reasoned Action in 1980 to predict an individual's
intention to engage in a behavior at a specific time and
place.
13
Theoretical Framework (cont.)

Figure 1: Theory of Planned Behavior Diagram

This theory was therefore used to explain the extent of Use of ICT Equipment among
Teachers of Pacuan National High School which was the interest of the researcher. This
theory relates to the research being conducted for the reason that the persons
knowledge explains the intention of performing the act resulting to the behavior.
Knowledge, attitude and beliefs explains the act. 14
CONCEPTUAL FRAMEWORK

Figure 2: Schematic Diagram of Conceptual Framework

As shown in Figure 2, the conceptual framework used in this study illustrates what is to
expect in this research. It also defines the relevant variables for the study and maps out how
they relate to each other.
Research Methodology
Research Design

Mixed Research Methodology is used in the study as the

researchers implemented both Qualitative and
Quantitative method designs. A mixed methods research
design is a procedure for collecting, analyzing, and
“mixing” both quantitative and qualitative research and
methods in a single study to understand a research
problem. 16
Research Respondents

The main focus of this study is to conduct a Training

Design for the teachers in Pacuan National High School.

Research Environment

This study will be conducted in Pacuan National High

School. The school is located in Pacuan, La Libertad,
Negros Oriental.
17
Research Instruments

The study used questionnaire to further understand the

Extent use of ICT Equipment among teachers in Pacuan
National High School in which the questionnaire is
composed of demographic data or personal information
and ICT access for teaching.

18
Research Procedure

To comprehensively gather the needed data, a permission will

seek from the office of the principal of Pacuan National High
School. Prior to the distribution of the questionnaires, an
approval letter explaining the purpose and the permission to
conduct the study will be given from the school principal. The
self-administered questionnaire will be distributed among the
teachers of the school. Collection of the answered
questionnaires will be made. 19
Statistical Treatment of Data
The ratings given by the respondents will be organized,
tabulated and treated statistically using the regression
tool. The regression tool performs a multiple regression
analysis. Regression analysis is a reliable method of
identifying which variables have impact on a topic of
interest. The process of performing a regression allows
us to confidently determine which factors matter most,
which factors can be ignored, and how these factors
influence each other.
