 WHY I CHOOSE DIESEL TECHNICIAN
• Grew up around tractors
• I grew up on a farm always working with tractors
• Deciding factor for future schooling
• I was stuck between Ag classes and Diesel Technician
 RESEARCH TOPIC AND ESSAY
• While shadowing I noticed nobody had on safety glasses as they worked
• Is Personal Protective equipment (P.P.E) worth the cost?
• While a pair of safety glasses can cost no more that $10 dollars an acrylic eye and
implant can cost any where from $2,500 to $8,300
• When using things like a grinder, sparks and small chunks of metal will fly many of
these can fly into your eyes

• One of the people that I shadowed was our farms technician
• Dealership
• This equipment dealership is where we have been recently buying our
equipment
 DAY ONE OBSERVATIONS
• Went through parts ordering
• Met with Ag Side leader
• Fixed hydraulic issue on tractor
• Checked over new tractor
 DAY TWO OBSERVATIONS
• Replaced grain walker and auger on a Combine
• Started with taking out the sieves and then we took out the grain walker and tailing
auger
 DAY THREE OBSERVATIONS
• Hooked on the last hoses to a new engine
• Started some basic maintenance on a combine
 REFLECTION
• I really liked shadowing this career
• I like to be up and moving, and this is a very active job
• This would definitely be a possible career choice

• Purpose
• To help show others basic maintenance on a tractor engine
• Process
• Cutting and gluing cardboard to look like and engine
• Paint a coat of primer
• Paint everything its actual color
