■ Web 2.0 is the second stage of the World Wide Web.  It includes 2-
way communication. (Boocock, 2016)
■ It is about interaction. People can share information and have
others interact with it. (Boocock, 2016)
■ Examples: Commenting on a blog, social media, ToonClip,
DoneDave, Netstory, Flipgrid, Kahoot

Educational Uses

■ Mentimeter is a great tool to use in education. It can be


used to test knowledge through multiple choice or open-
ended questions. Teachers can keep students engaged
through the use of a word cloud. Teachers use scales to see
how students are thinking before teaching a skill and after
it has been taught. There is a quiz feature that can be used
to assess students’ learning.
■ Teachers are able to engage students, start conversations,
and spark ideas whenever, and wherever using live polls,
word cloud, multiple choice questions and more. They can
track learning and understanding by asking questions and
downloading the results.
■ This tool is currently being used in education in the ways
mentioned above.

Possible Practices
■ This tool can be used to start class with a poll.
■ Mentimeter can be used to ask a multiple choice question such as “What is the capital
of Australia?” Students will see the various options and choose their answer.
■ The polling feature is great for starting conversations during Morning Meeting. The
teacher can ask “How are you feeling today?” Students will see the various options
and choose their answer.
■ This tool can be used to do a quick quiz to check student mastery.
■ The word cloud feature could be used when giving a professional development.
Participants can respond to “Describe guided reading with 3 words.”
■ This tool can be used to make predictions in various texts to create a word cloud. The
teacher can ask “What do you think the ballerina will do next?”

■ The free version is limited to 2 questions.

■ Students may disengage if used too often.
■ Not every participant will have a mobile device.
