WHAT IS ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE?
• Artificial Intelligence (AI) is an area of computer science that emphasizes the creation of
intelligent machines that work and react like humans. Some of the activities computers with
artificial intelligence are designed for include
i. Speech recognition
ii. Learning
iii. Planning
iv. Problem Solving
TYPES OF ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE

• There are four types of artificial intelligence machines:

1. Reactive Machines: The most basic types of AI systems are purely reactive, and have the
ability neither to form memories nor to use past experiences to inform current decisions.
2. Limited Memory: AI systems can use past experiences to inform future decisions.
Observations are used to inform actions happening in the not so distant future.
3. Theory of Mind: This type of AI is able to understand people’s emotion, belief, thoughts,
expectations and capable of interacting socially.
4. Self-Awareness: An AI that has it’s own conscious, super intelligent, self-awareness and
sentient
RECENT EVOLUTION OF ARTIFICIAL
INTELLIGENCE
• In today’s world, AI has a hand in everything from what we see on a social media feed to determining what
the best treatment will be during a hospital stay. It’s easy to see AI is evolving.
• To date, all major, commercial AI have been weak AI.
• Based on the pace of quantum computing advancements, it’s likely we will see strong AI within the next 30
years or possibly sooner.
• AI can be used to automate what would otherwise be a mindless, menial task. AI can assist in scanning,
digitizing, and sorting documents through optical character recognition.
• Examples of recent use include:
a) An AI is taught parameters to assist in finding the ideal candidate for a job, simplifying the hiring process.
b) From 2009 to 2014, Google experimented in using big data to predict flu outbreaks. In the end, it was criticized for
not being accurate.
BENEFITS OF ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE
• Artificial intelligence drives down the time taken to perform a task. It empowers multi-tasking and
facilitates the workload for existing assets.
• It is possible with the AI technology to chat with a human being live and a person feels as if chatting with
another human.
• AI empowers the execution of up to this point complex task without significant cost expenses.
• AI could be utilized in medical field also to prepare the medical students in performing surgeries.
• AI works 24x7 without interruption or breaks and has no downtime.
• AI enlarges the capacities of differently abled individuals.
• AI has mass market potential.
• AI facilitates decision-making by making the process faster and smarter.
HARMS OF ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE

• AI programmed to do something dangerous, as is the case with autonomous weapons programmed to

kill, is one way AI can pose risks.
• By spreading propaganda to individuals identified through algorithms and personal data, AI can target
them and spread whatever information they like.
• It is now possible to track and analyze an individual's every move online as well as when they are going
about their daily business.
• Since machines can collect, track and analyze so much about you, it’s very possible for those machines
to use that information against you.
ADVANTAGES AND DISADVANTAGES

Advantages Disadvantages
• Multi-tasking • Autonomous Weapons
• Chatting at long distances • Social Manipulation
• Quicker decision-making • Invasion of Privacy and Social Grading
• Utilization in medics • Discrimination
CONCLUSION

• After looking closely into all the facts of artificial intelligence, it turns out that artificial intelligence’s
harm is much more greater and long-term than its benefits to humanity. On one side, it makes a lot of
tasks easier, but on the other, it brings devastating effects to mankind. So, it is really important for
humans to develop artificial intelligence, but not without keeping it sustainable.
