INTRODUCTION

Revit Architecture provides floor plans and reflected ceiling plans. It also includes many types of
views, such as Elevation , Interior Elevation , Drafting , Camera , and Walkthroughs .
WHAT IS REVIT ARCHITECTURE ?

Autodesk Revit is building information modeling software for architects, landscape

architects, structural engineers, MEP engineers, designers and contractors developed by
Autodesk.
It allows users to design building and structure and its components in3D, annotate the
model with 2D drafting elements, and access building information from the building
models, database.
Revit is 4D BIM capable with tools to plan and track various stages in the building’s
lifecycle , from concept to construction and later maintenance and/or demolition.
HISTORY OF REVIT

• The original software was developed by Charles River Software, founded in 1997,
renamed Revit Technology Corporatin in 2000, and acquired by Autodesk for US $133
million in 2002.

• Autodesk has released several version of Revit since 2004 . In 2005 Revit Structure was
introduced , then in 2006 Revit MEP. After the 2006 release Revit Building was renamed
as Revit Architecture.
BIM (BUILDING INFORMATION MODELLING)
WHY BIM IS USED IN CIVIL ENGINEERING ?

 Faster and more effective processes : Information is more easily shared and can be easily
added and reused.
Better design: Building proposals can be rigorously analyzed, simulations performed
quickly, and performed benchmarked , enabling improved and innovative solution.
Better production quality : Documentation outputs is flexible and exploits automation.
FLOOR PLANS AND REFLECTED
CEILING PLANS

The Floor Plan view is the default view in a new project.

Most projects include at least one floor plan.

Reflected Ceiling Plan views are also created

automatically as you add new levels to your project.

TIP:
You can also select a level, right mouse
button click, and select Create Similar to
create new levels. Revit ships with two Floor
Plan and two Ceiling Plan
views
CROP VIEW
NOTE:
When the Elevation comes up, you may notice that it
The Crop rectangle is surrounded by a rectangle. This is
the Crop view and dictates what will be shown on the
Drawing sheet when you drag the view to
that sheet.
HIDE CROP REGION

After cropping the view, select the Hide Crop Region button to hide the Crop
rectangle.

WALKTHROUGH VIEWS

A Walkthrough is a camera that follows a path that you define. The path comprises
frames and key frames. A key frame is a modifiable frame where you can change the
direction and position of the camera.
