Waste
Unwanted or unusable material or
substance.
Also those materials which are
rejected/worthless.
Examples – rubbish, trash, garbage or
junk materials.

Types of waste
Degradable waste-
I. from plant or animal resources.
II. Broken down by other living organisms
III. Municipal waste, paper waste, green
waste, food waste and so on
IV. Human waste manure and sewage.
V. Industrial domestic waste.

Non-Degradable waste
I. Not capable of decomposition material
like plastics , metals and glass.
II. Harmful chemicals, toxins like plastic
carry bags.

Sources or causes of waste
classification examples

Domestic waste Paper , plastic, food, ash, detergent liquid, vegetables,


garbage, etc

Commercial waste Printers,paper,garbage,cotton waste, card board, wood,


vegetables etc.

Industrial waste Scrap both metal and non metals, oils, greases, cotton
waste, packing materials. Chemicals etc.

Municipal waste Garbage, sewage, leaves, dust, food etc.

Nuclear waste Radio active materials, bi-product of nuclear fission.

Electronic waste Old and damaged or defective,


computers,printers,mobiles, printed circuits etc.

Effects of waste
Every waste generated has an ill effect on
the human beings, plants, animals and non
living also....
It effects Health of human beings and
animals.
Damage to the fertility of land
Effects the coastal and marine life
Causes, global warming and soon.
