Purpose…..

To ensure/prevent:
 Uninterrupted construction work - normal productivity
 Safety hazards / health hazards
 Legal & other regulatory hassles – BMC notice/penalty/stoppage
 Emergencies – water/food contamination, break out of malaria, dengue, jaundice
 To maintain serviceability of P&M
 To protect formwork against damage or deterioration
 To protect resources (sand, cement, chemicals etc.)
 To prevent water logging/flooding – site, office, camps

Monsoon Action Plan


Administration…..
1. Daily inspection of Camps by Admin In-charge with camp boss
2. Weekly joint inspection of Camps with PI, HSE , P&M etc.
3. Cover all openings (roof openings, floor cutouts, duct openings) effectively to
prevent ingress of rain water
4. Create Bunds/Barriers to prevent entry of rain at floor level
5. Level floors and adjoining areas with outward slope to drain off water
6. Disposal of accumulated water – pump, sump & drain
7. Provide Food Waste Bins with lid. Keep Food Waste Bins under shed/cover with
tarpaulin
8. Dispose off Food Waste on daily basis
9. Provide shoes rack under shed.
10. Provide Rain Coat Hangers

11. Cover Drinking Water Tanks with BMC Approved Lids (MS)..

12. Place Drinking Water Tanks under Shed.

13. Weekly cleaning of Drinking Water Tanks.

14. Provide drinking water through RO Plant.

15. Snake repellant treatment in camps/office/sites..

16. Weekly pest controls for inspects, cockroaches, bed bugs, rats
camps/office/site/guest houses.

17. Daily fogging camps/sites/offices.

18. Keep anti-venom injection in one project in each cluster.

19. Identify nearest Govt. Hospital / BMC Hospital for snake bite.

20. Doctor visit – minimum thrice a week (more visits as per site requirements).

21. Maintain a register of sick workers on daily basis.

22. Monthly Blood Test of all workers. Keep records for BMC validation.

23. Anti- malaria treatment.

24. Provide mosquito nets to all workers.

25. Cleaning of septic tanks & drains before onset of Monsoon.

26. Conduct personal health & hygiene training in camps fortnightly with the help of
doctor.

27. Depute additional sweeper & cleaners to maintain camps/offices.

28. Secure Roof Sheets, as applicable.

 Routing of roof shade rain water with the help of channel.
 Closing of floor cut-out, lift shaft in such a way that rain water should not pass
through it.

a. Plan your dewatering system, pump capacity, sedimentation and drain

b. Get the pipelines and accessories prior to the monsoon.

c. The dewatering pumps should be placed properly with support (as shown in
pic)

d. Use GI pipe as vertical if the excavated pit depth is more than 10 mtrs

e. Use sedimentation tank before drain to avoid chock-up of drainage system


and any legal issues.

 If the wing speed is more than 12 m/s don’t do the crane jumping and height
extension work.

 Check the meteorological dept. warnings before start of crane operation.

8. Protect “Safety Nets” against wind pressure.
9. Monitor all lifting, jumping and installation of equipment, safety screen, safety nets
etc.
10. Constitute Emergency Response Team (ERT) - conduct training & mock drill
