Recommendation and

Conclusion
Conclusion
• Conclusions are logical deductions based on the data in
the Findings section
• Usually includes a comprehensive summary of the
findings
• Ends with a statement which will lead to the
Recommendations section
• Respondents’ profile is not included in the conclustions
• Conclusions = summary of the findings and logical
conclusions
Conclusion
• Give the opportunity to discuss the meaning of
the results beyond what they mean statistically.
• Interpret the findings and indicate what can be
concluded from them.
• Indicate whether the results confirm, totally or in
part, the original expectations or predictions.
• If there is hypothesis, indicate whether it was
supported and why.
Conclusion
• Conclusion is combined of
• Overview of the study
• Restatement of the objectives
• Review of the findings
• Implications of the findings
• Limitation of research
Overview of the study
• Summarize what the research is all about (do
not introduce new ideas)
• Explain briefly why & how the researcher
conducted the study

Restatement of the objectives

• Rephrase the objectives
• Start with the most significant one
Review of the findings
• Draw conclusions for each analysis
• Start with the most important one

Implications of the findings

• Conclude/deduce ideas based on findings
• Implicate some ideas that can support further actions

Limitation of research
• State the weaknesses (Small sample size, limited time,
etc.)
Conclusion
• As the function of the conclusion is to round
off the story of the project, it should:
• be written to relate directly to the aims of the
project as stated in the Introduction
• indicate the extent to which the aims have
been achieved
• summarize the key findings, outcomes or
information in the report
Recommendation
• A well-thought-out set of recommendations
make it more likely that the organization will
take
• Make a formal recommendation regarding the
alternative that is best supported by the study
• Present and discuss the kinds of additional
research that the researcher likes to suggest
What is recommendation?
• It suggests actions to be taken based on
findings
• It is related to conclusions
• It is NOT based on biases or beliefs that are
not supported by data
Recommendation
• How to write recommendations:
– Brief – write concisely; any reason for
recommendation should only be given if necessary
– Clear – do not be ambiguous as to how the
suggestion should be implemented
– Precise – vague recommendations usually result
from insufficient research/ analysis
2 Types of Recommendation

1. To recommend actions to be taken based on

findings
2. To recommend actions to other researchers
for further research
Recommendation
• State specifically what should be done, the steps and
resources required to implement the
recommendations
• Acknowledge limitations and make
recommendations for future work (where applicable)
• Discussion of the benefits to the organization and
what problems would be corrected or avoided
• Highlight the significance or usefulness of the
researcher’s work.
