INTRODUCTION
 Safety of two wheeler driver is very important.

 In accidents people not wearing helmet usually get head or face injury, which may even lead to

the death of the person.

 In India two-wheelers accounted for the highest share in total road accidents.

 There is one more way that can be used to get proper solution of the problem i.e. technology.

 It is possible to use safety system which is integrated with the smart helmet to reduce accidents

and drunken drives cases.

 Technology of smart helmet is used in such a way that user will forced to use a helmet.

 Also some safety features are added in helmet which will help rider during accident incidences.
• INTRODUCTION

 Security and safety is one of the most talked of topics in almost every aspect.
 Previously the most compulsion is to wear the helmet for the bike rider’s.
 Most of the people use traditional helmets just to prevent from challan done by
traffic control police not for the safety purposes.
 Most of the accidents occurring cause severe deaths due to rash driving, not
using safety measures.
 Helmet act as a basic protection device
 So, to overcome from this problem the smart helmet can be used.
GOVERNMENT SURVEY OF ACCIDENTS

 As per the data given on government website there are over 230 million
registered vehicles in India
 The number has been growing at almost 10 per cent between 2006 and 2016.
 Among motorized vehicles, two-wheelers constitute 73.5 per cent and light
motor vehicles comprising of cars, jeeps and taxis constitute 13.1 per cent.
 Motorized vehicles accounted for 91.6 per cent of the total road accidents
during the calendar year 2017.
 Two-wheelers accounted for the highest share in total road accidents (33.9%).

OBJECTIVES

 To design and develop a low cost smart helmet that will be capable for
saving life of user.
 Following features will be added,

 No ignition without wearing a helmet

 Alcohol detection

 Front Camera (For Accident Recording Purpose)

 Rear Camera (For Accident Recording Purpose)

 Rear 7 Segment Display

 Impact Sensor

 High Beam control by using filament on the glass of helmet

 Track Sensor (In case of vehicle is stolen)

 Automatic Cooling if the inside temperature is too high.

FEASIBILITY STUDY

 A helmet may not be a 100% foolproof but in case of an accident to prevent fatal
brain injuries.
 . The proposed approach makes it mandatory for the rider to use this protective guard
in order to drive a two-wheeler vehicle
 The helmet checks if the rider is drunk and driving.

 If the rider is drunk then he cannot start bike.

 Arduino microcontroller interfaced with alcohol sensor used in the helmet.

 The system also sends a message stating “Accident occurred” including the latitude
and longitude location of the incident using GSM and GPS.
 It uses a vibration sensor to detect an accident.

 . It also has a temperature sensor which notifies when the helmet gets heated up to
avoid the circuit damage.
METHODOLOGY

TESTING OF A HELMET
The testing of the helmet s done with the help of sensor which are connected with the DPDT switch
so when switch will get pressed we get the required output on the screen.
The first step is to wear a helmet through which the DPDT switch will get pressed and we get output
that “battery allows flow of current to start the bike through starter”
Next step is alchol detection “if driver s drunken then bike will not start”
Next film of the glass is tested “it’ll reduce the intensity of high light beam”
Then recording performance of both cameras are checked.
The next step is the accident detection when the accident sensor accompanied with switch is pressed
then the LCD will display accident “YES” and with the help of GSM module the SMS and PHONE
CALL will create to the 5 feded contact number.
The performance of the 7 segment display is checked with the help of RADAR sensor.

ANALYSIS OF A HELMET
The impact conditions of the bike helmet depend on the speed that the rider
reaches the floor when hitting the head.
 The analysis considers three speeds:
1. 7m/s
2. 8.5m/s
3. 10m/s
In this case, the rider speed impact to the floor is the driver for this analysis. Impact
speeds of riders during different types of impact can be obtained from crash data.
The helmets were tested with two shell materials:
1.Acrylonitrile Butadiene Styrene (ABS)
2.High Density Polyethylene (HDPE).
ANALYSIS OF A HELMET
FUTURE SCOPE

 In future this intelligent system can be fabricated in a compact.

 The developed system prevents theft of the two- wheeler.

 Government must enforce laws to install such system in every two

wheeler.
 By implementing this system a safe two wheeler journey is
possible which would decrease the head injuries during accidents
and also reduce the accident rate due to driving bike after
consuming alcohol.
 Deaths due to driving under influence of alcohol and other road
fatalities can be minimized to large extent.
