Insights on Achieving Learning

Recovery
Background
• Recent analysis from the World Bank estimates a loss of between 0.8 and 1.2 years of learning adjusted
schooling for each primary school student. Thus, the questions emerge on how to further mitigate and
compensate learning loss that will transform into learning recovery.
• With the recent decline of Covid-19 cases and the vaccination processes continues, schools have started to re-
open with health protocols to be met. A few issues are to be addressed during this critical time:
1. Putting forward the significance of edtech to deal with the inequality of access to digital learning due to
geographical conditions and different household income.
2. Encouraging hybrid education focusing on student-centered learning as schools re-open, to ensure sound
transition and to continue to take advantage of hybrid modality to enhance learning outcomes.
3. Thirdly, psychosocial support for students and teachers most affected by the pandemic.
4. Effective continuous professional development during and post-covid time. Teacher’s competency in
primary, secondary, and vocational schools is pivotal in learning outcomes that needs to be revitalized
and continued.
