Ethics

► The term is derived from the Greek word ethos which can mean custom, habit,
character or disposition. At its simplest, ethics is a system of moral principles.
Ethics is concerned with what is good for individuals and society and is also
described as moral philosophy.
► The field of ethics (or moral philosophy) involves systematizing, defending, and
recommending concepts of right and wrong behavior.
Ethical Theories

► Philosophers today usually divide ethical theories into three general subject areas:
► Meta-ethics
► Normative ethics
► Applied ethics.
Conclusion

So ethics is defined as a moral philosophy or code of morals practiced by a person or


group of people. An example of ethics is a code of conduct set by a business.
Difference between ethics and morality

Both morality and ethics loosely have to do with distinguishing the difference
between “good and bad” or “right and wrong.” Many people think of morality as
something that's personal and normative, whereas ethics is the standards of “good and
bad” distinguished by a certain community or social setting.
Ethical

Pertaining to or dealing with morals or the principles of morality; pertaining to right


and wrong in conduct. Being in accordance with the rules or standards for right
conduct or practice, especially the standards of a profession. For someone who is
honest and follows good moral standards.
Codes of ethics

► Integrity.
► Objectivity.
► Professional competence.
► Confidentiality.
► Professional behavior.
Society

A society, or a human society, is a group of people involved with each other through
persistent relations, or a large social grouping sharing the same geographical or social
territory, typically subject to the same political authority and dominant cultural
expectations.
Components of society

► Likeness: Likeness of members in a social group is the primary basis of


their mutuality.
► The Reciprocal Awareness: Likeness is generative of reciprocity.
► Differences.
► Interdependence.
► Cooperation.
► Conflict.

Adherence to ethical
principles.

Sincerity.

Faithfulness to clients;
