Three-dimensional
Expression
Apart from length and width, three-
dimensional objects also has volume. A
three-dimensional object is solid rather
than flat, because it can be measured in
three different directions, usually the
height, length, and width. The
abbreviation 3-D can also be used.
Molding
reshaping a three-dimensional object such as marble or plaster to create a new form
Carving
scraping off parts of a material (often wood) to create a new form
Etching
using a strong acid on a surface to create a design
Installing
a site-specific artwork designed to transform and include space in its message
Multi-dimensional
Expression
Multidimensional definition is
- having or relating to multiple
dimensions or aspects.
Lashed construction
A lashing is an arrangement of rope, wire, or webbing with linking device used to secure
and fasten two or more items together in a somewhat rigid manner. ... Lashings are also
used in pioneering, the art of creating structures such as bridges and towers, using ropes
and wooden spars.
Truss Construction
A truss is an assembly of beams or other elements that creates a rigid structure. A planar
truss is one where all members and nodes lie within a two-dimensional plane, while a
space truss has members and nodes that extend into three dimensions.
Post and lintel construction
Post-and-lintel, or trabeated architecture, is a simple construction method using a header
(lintel) as the horizontal member supported at its ends by two vertical columns or pillars (posts).
Post-and-lintel is one of the four ancient structural methods of building; the others are corbel,
arch-and-vault, and truss.
Cantilever
In architecture, a beam or structure that is anchored at one end and projects horizontally
beyond its vertical support. any rigid construction extending horizontally well beyond its
vertical support, used as a structural element of a bridge.
Arches
An arch is a vertical curved structure that spans an elevated space and may or may not
support the weight above it.
