Mark 15:20-39

Pilit
Judio." v27-28May dalawang tulisang kasabay
niyang ipinako sa krus, isa sa kanan at isa sa
kaliwa.
v29Ininsulto siya ng mga nagdaraan, pailing-iling
nilang sinasabi, "O ano?
kanilang sinabi, "Pakinggan ninyo, tinatawag niya
The cross is offensive to
some people…
1Cor.1:23but we preach Christ crucified, a
stumbling block to Jews and folly to Gentiles

 The cross is foolishness

to some people…
But, for a few, the cross
is an object of power and
wisdom..
1Cor.1:23 v24but to those who are
called, both Jews and Greeks, Christ
the power of God and the wisdom of
God.
Mark 15:20,24-25
v20And when they had mocked him,
they stripped him of the purple cloak
and put his own clothes on him. And
they led him out to crucify him.
v24And they crucified him and divided
his garments among them, casting lots
for them, to decide what each should
take. v25And it was the third hour when
they crucified him.
Walang katangian o kagandahang makatawag-pansin,
at hirap.
kasalanan kaya siya nasugatan;
tinanggap.
The cross is not a trinket to be worn
without thought.  It is not an amulet to
be used to ease our superstitions.  It
is not an idol to be worshiped.  It is a
symbol of God’s love for
us.  Therefore, let us glory in His
cross, and praise the Lord for what He
did for us, for it is the doorway into
life for all who know Jesus as Savior.
Mark 15:33-36
v33And when the sixth hour had come,
there was darkness over the whole land
until the ninth hour. v34And at the ninth
hour Jesus cried with a loud voice,
5"Eloi, Eloi, lema sabachthani?" which
means, "My God, my God, why have
you forsaken me?" v35And some of the
bystanders hearing it said, "Behold, he
is calling Elijah.“…
2Cor. 5:21
All the pain of Hell and the undiluted
wrath of Almighty God were
unleashed on the Person of the Lord
Jesus Christ.  He literally took our
place on that cross.  He died our
death; He suffered our Hell; He paid
our price! (Eze. 18:4; Psa.
9:17; Rom 6:23.)
Mark 15:37-38
v37And Jesus uttered a loud cry and
breathed his last. v38And the curtain of
the temple was torn in two, from top to
bottom.
1.  His death signaled the defeat of
Satan
(2 Cor. 4:4; Heb. 2:14)
2.  His death signaled the defeat of
Sin
(Rom. 5:12.   John 1:29; Heb. 9:26)
3.  His death signaled the defeat
of Separation  (Isa. 59:2.   Rom. 5:10)
The death of Jesus was not the
tragedy it appeared to be on the
surface.  The death of Jesus was
our moment of ultimate
triumph.  In His death, He
conquered all the enemies that
were destroying those trapped in
their sins!
Mark 15:39
v39 6And when the centurion, who
stood facing him, saw that in this way
he breathed his last, he said, "Truly this
man was the Song of God!"
Christ’s greatest work was accomplished at the
cross.  When He raised Lazarus from the dead,
He helped one man and his family.  When He
healed the lepers; delivered the demoniacs;
opened the blind eyes and healed diseased,
twisted bodies; He was helping one person and
one family at a time. When He fed the 5,000
thousand, He helped 5,000 men plus women and
children.  But, when He died on the cross, Jesus
was making a difference for every member of
Adam’s family who would look to Him by faith.  It
wasn’t just one man; but it was “whosoever will”
What is the cross of Jesus to
you?  It is merely a piece of
jewelry?  Is it just a religious
symbol?  Is it a talisman you hang
over your bed to keep the devil
away?  Is it pure foolishness? Or, is
the cross the “power of God unto
salvation”?
