RENEWABLE vs NON-RENEWABLE RESOURCES

Renewable Resources
 Renewable resources are those resources which can be renewed or replaced over time.
 Great examples of infinite, renewable resources are: wind, sunlight, tides, biomass, etc.
Non-Renewable Resources
 Non-renewable resources are those natural resources which cannot be renewed once they are
completely consumed.
 Great examples of non-renewable resources are fossil fuels such as coal, oil, and natural gases.
DISADVANTAGES OF NON-RENEWABLE RESOURCES
 Once a non-renewable energy source is used up it cannot be replaced again.
 These are highly polluting sources and increase the greenhouse gasses in environment.
 The residual products these sources are responsible for all kinds of non-biodegradable material
accumulation.
 The exposure to these sources has increased the level of pollution and increase in lung /
pharyngeal diseases.
 The rise in temperature due to greenhouse gas accumulation has in turn triggered the ice cap
melting and rise in sea level.
ADVANTAGES OF RENEWABLE RESOURCES
 One major advantage with the use of renewable energy is that as it is renewable it is therefore
sustainable and so will never run out.
 Renewable energy facilities generally require less maintenance than traditional generators.
Their fuel being derived from natural and available resources reduces the costs of operation.
 Renewable energy produces little or no waste products such as carbon dioxide or other
chemical pollutants, so has minimal impact on the environment.
 Renewable energy projects can also bring economic benefits to many regional areas.
WHAT IS ROOFTOP SOLAR SYSTEM
BENEFITS OF ROOF TOP PV
 On national level, reduces requirement of land for
addition of solar capacities.

 For consumers, it
 Reduces the dependency on grid power.
 Mitigates diesel generator dependency.
 Long term reliable power source.

 For Discoms, it reduces

 Day Peak load Demand
 T&D and conversion losses as power is consumed at
the point of generation.

 Most suitable for commercial establishments

 Max generation during peak usage time.
 Solar power cost is close to the commercial power
cost.
