• Describe the importance of sustainable development

• Analyse the impact of your actions on your future and
value the needs for sustainable development
• Explain the importance of sustainability in society,
and how to lead a healthy and positive life;
• Appreciate design thinking from an interdisciplinary
perspective, with the potential of applying such
knowledge to propose new ventures to improve
sustainability of the world

Assessment Methods

• Group project (50% of final grade)


• Group presentation based on Theme IV: Creativity and design thinking
for a sustainable future
• Presentation date: 4 Dec 2020
• Individual Essay (50% of final grade)
• Language: English or Chinese
• Word limit: Up to 2,000 words
• Submission deadline: 14 Dec 2020
• Bonus point
• In the final lecture, students will be asked to write a short piece in class.
• The piece will be graded and up to 3 bonus marks may be given and
added to the overall score of the course.

• III - Sustainable Development of Cities and

• Scores of the assignments in each section will be
adjusted to have the same mean

Submission method (and what will happen if you
submit late)

• Three items to submit for the individual essay


1. Softcopy of assignment
2. Signed declaration
3. Signed VeriGuide receipt
• The assignment should be submitted to Blackboard
by the due date within office hours.
• For every day of lateness, 5% of the assignment
score shall be deducted. No mark shall be given for
assignments that are more than three days late.
