Parol Making Competition


Theme: Ang Ilaw at Kulay ng Pasko
ay nagmumula sa Inyo!
Paskong Tomasino 2021: Parol Making Competition with the
theme‘Ang Ilaw at Kulay ng Pasko ay nagmumula sa Inyo’ is an activity
proposal by MGB Events to celebrate the Christmas Season. The event's
main goal is to motivate and inspire the people of Santo Tomas City,
Batangas, to keep making PAROLs, which are a Christmas symbol of
family unity. The City of santo Tomas has a commitment to sustain
energy that is reflected in the requirement to use only recyclable
materials.
Mechanics:
1. Entries must be made of recyclable materials ONLY.
2. Participating Barangay must register ONLY one (1) entry.
3. Lantern design must reflect the contest theme.
4. Entries may either be in the traditional five-point star design with two tails or modern, innovative,
stylized, star concept. Entry must be hand-made and produced only in the area of participating Barangay.
5. Size must be not in excess of four feet (4 ft.) in diameter and no greater than four (4) feet from across
the tassels with deepness of two feet (2 ft.). It must be capable of being hung or propped in a bamboo to be
hung.
6. Entries must be colorful but not using any commercial paint.
7. It is permissible to install Christmas lights or any other light in the Parol as long as it is DTI approved,
as this will make the Parols more encouraging even at night.
8. Each registered participant shall post a photo of the entry in Santo Tomas LGU’s Facebook page after
entry acceptance as certified by the Main/Sub-Office. Entries shall be voted upon in Santo Tomas’
Facebook page for the chance to win the special award, People’s Choice Parol for the greatest number of
likes in Facebook.
9. The final judging will take place on December 10, 2021, at 6:00 p.m. in Santo Tomas City Plaza, next
to St. Aquinas Church. The winners will be announced later that night at 8:00 p.m.
10. All winning and non-winning entries will become the property of the Local Government Unit of Santo
Tomas, Batangas. Parols will be displayed in the program venue until the end of the Christmas season.
11. The decision of the Board of Judges is final.
CRITERIA Marks
1. ORIGINALITY 25%
This relates to the distinctiveness of the design, colors, and lights
of the Parol Entry.
2. CREATIVITY 25%
This pertains to the aesthetics and coherence of the design and the
application of the colors, shapes, lines, texture and other artistic
elements to create a thematic expression in the lantern or parol.
This also includes how other component such as lights are
integrated in the design.
3. CRAFTMANSHIP 25%
This refes to the effective translation of the concept and design
through structural construction, neat craftmanship of Tomasino.
The theme is aligned to the very essence of Parol which is to
bring light and colors every Christmas Season.
4. IMPACT 15%
The appearance and appeal of the Parol and the Christmas feeling
evoked whenever seen.
5. POPULARITY 10%
