LEAST LEARNED COMPETENCY

The learner translates into variation

statement a relationship between two
quantities given by: (a) a table of values; (b)
a mathematical equation; (c) a graph, and
vice versa.

Lesson Objectives:
At the end of the lesson, the students will be able to:

mathematical equation
a graph, and vice versa

Let’s Review
All around us, some quantities are constant
and others are variable.
For instance the number of hours in a day is
constant,
but the number of hours of daylight in a day is
not.

A. Direct Variation
Two quantities are in direct variation if :

 the ratio between two quantities is constant, and

 when one quantity increases, the other also

increases, conversely,
when one quantity decreases, the other also
decreases

B. Inverse Variation
Two quantities are in inverse variation if :

 the product between two quantities is constant, and

 when one quantity increases, the other decreases,

conversely, when one quantity decreases, the
other increases.

C. Joint Variation

 It describes a situation where one variable depends

on two (or more) other variables and varies directly
as each of them when the others are held constant.

Division of Davao City

DEPARTMENT OF EDUCATION

D. Combined Variation

 It describes a situation where a variable depends on

two (or more) other variables, and varies directly with
some of them and varies inversely with others (when
the rest of the variables are held constant)
