Overview of Interlocking Material on Abaqus (1/1)
Abaqus is provides a simple aspect of Topological Interlocking (TI) modeling process:
- Defining the Geometry of TI;
- Defining Material Properties of TI;
- Generating Mesh of TI

The Analysis products of Abaqus:

- Monitoring the progress of the TI’s Job;
- Obtain information about stress, strain, moment capacities
- Perform FEM simulation of TI consider the contact analysis

Understanding The Assembly (1/1)
 Create instance from a part

• Importing an assembly
If choose to import an assembly, so it can import the entire assembly or selected part
from instances

• Why importing an assembly more recommended?

- In most cases, Abaqus can retain the names of the part instances from the original file
- If the original file of geometry was colored by third party  CAD Modeling, so Abaqus
can retain the colors when it has been imported.
Understanding The Part Module (1/1)
 Create the parts by sketching or importing geometry from other CAD Modeling

• Abaqus can import part and assembly of geometries from other

third party CAD Modeling
• Before importing the geometry defines the CAD file format and
each capability of each format, (e.g., AutoCAD and Fusion 360)
also it has the limitations of representing the geometry of a part.

Understanding The Step (1/1)
 Create and define the analysis steps and associated output requests.

1.Create analysis steps

The model can define one or more analysis steps and can provide a way to capture
changes in the boundary condition of the model

2. Initial Step
Abaqus creates an initial step at the beginning and only one also it cannot be changed.
The initial step can define boundary conditions, predefined fields, and interactions then
just applicable in the beginning.

3. Analysis steps
After doing the initial steps, the other steps can be the following. Analysis steps are
associated with the procedure that can be selected. Defining the type of analysis can be
performed during the step.
Understanding The Contact (1/1)

Contact

The contact in Abaqus provides a way to define contact interaction and

constraint in a 3D model. Abaqus defines all of the contact interactions and
constraint simultaneously.
Understanding The Interaction (1/1)
 Specify the interactions, such as contact, between regions of a model.

• Surface – to – surface contact

This interactions is describe about contact between two deformable surfaces of
a deformable surface and a rigid surface.
• Pressure Penetration
Simulate the pressure of fluid penetrating between two surfaces and involved
in surface to surface contact.
• Standard Explicit Co Simulation
This interaction is define the co simulation and created only in a general static
• Self Contact
Understanding The Load (1/1)
 Submit the load value for analysis

 Abaqus displays the Boundary Condition

Manager. The manager indicates that the
boundary conditions are Created (activated)
in the initial step and are Propagated from
base state (continue to be active) in the
analysis step Apply load.
Understanding The Mesh (1/1)
Minimazing Seed
Abaqus uses the seed for
nodes along the edges of the
mesh

Create mesh seeds

• Mesh seeds specify only a mesh density.

• Abaqus/CAE often changes the element
distribution so that the mesh can be generated
successfully.
• It can be prevent such adjustments by
constraining the number.
