Statement:
“Line integral of magnetic field around closed loop is equal
to total current enclosed in that loop.”

• Mathematical relationship to determine value of

Magnetic field produced by current in a wire.
• Advanced by James Clerk Maxwell.
• Loop on the integral sign means Scalar dot product is to
be integrated a closed loop.
• It counts not the absolute value but algebraic sum of all
current.

• Divide the loop into differential vector element that
are directed along tangent to loop in the direction of
integration.

Convention & Signs:
• We use Right hand rule to assign “ + ” or “ – ” sign to
each of current that make the net encircled current

• You do the line integral counter

fingers are following the line integral than your thumb
points outward & the current is positive.

• Anything in opposite direction is assigned negative sign.

By applying the right hand rule with the indicated
counter clockwise direction of integreation ,the net current
