Primary schools teach children from 5 to 11-12 years old. All
subjects are taught by one teacher, excluding visual arts,
music and physical education, which are worn once or twice
weekly. Schools are divided into public and private. Due to the
lack of a unified national curriculum, secondary educational
institutions have different levels of training. The best
knowledge is students of private private boarding schools. The
last stage of secondary education in the United States is high
school, which lasts from ninth to twelfth grades. Students in
high school can choose subjects more freely than before and
must follow the minimum criteria for graduation set by the

certificate of secondary education (General Certificate of
Secondary Education, GCSE). Until the age of 14, they study
basic general education subjects according to a compulsory
unified state program. Then, for two years, preparations are
underway for the GCSE exams in 6-10 subjects. After passing
these exams, the compulsory secondary education program is
considered complete. But this is not enough to enter the
university. It is necessary to study for another two years on
the A-level program, which provides for an in-depth study of
three to six subjects. Exam results The level "A-level" for both
the British and foreigners is a "ticket to life" for continuing
education: according to the competition of certificates, you
can enter the university.
By law, local colleges can use education for all residents of the
area in which they are located. Community colleges are
educational institutions that not only teach professions, but
also provide academic training corresponding to two
university courses. Usually local colleges have agreements
with their state universities to transfer students.

English youth receive secondary and special education in

colleges. Colleges provide vocational training and provide an
intermediate stage between school and university. Studying in
English colleges is focused primarily on practical preparation
for professional activity. But more and more often they are
used for university preparation, and the highest of the
qualifications they assign is equivalent to the A-level
certificate of maturity. In fact, these colleges allow students to
complete a two-year A-level program at an accelerated pace -
in a year.
For students who lack exam scores, grades, or general education to directly enroll in an
undergraduate degree, opportunities in other countries to help applicants with
admission. In England, many universities offer the so-called “basic one-year course”. This
one-year study period can be completed either online or on campus, and after the start of
the one-year program, students accelerate the degree program. In the most selective
universities such programs are usually not specified.
American universities are subdivided into private and public
ones. Both of them can be of different levels: the more
prestigious the university, the more the diploma is valued.
The standard period of study for a bachelor's degree in the
United States is four to five years. Some programs (in
particular, engineering and architecture) are actually designed
for five years. American college students generally do not
have to make immediate decisions about their majors. Many
schools encourage students to try different courses before
choosing a major.

Higher education in England consists of a bachelor's degree

program, postgraduate programs (master's, including MBA,
doctoral degree). In England, courses leading to a bachelor's
degree usually take three years. This is due to the fact that in
England, courses provide for a narrower specialization in the
main majoring subject. Most universities in England require
students to declare the subject they want to study at the time
of application. This is one of the reasons why it takes less time
to get a bachelor's degree in England than in the USA.
Both the United States and England
have combined bachelor's and
master's degree programs. They are
designed for four years. Many
science, engineering and
mathematics programs in England
are combined, i.e. upon completion,
students are awarded both
bachelor's and master's degrees.
Similar programs in the US are
advertised as five-year programs
Because the American system emphasizes breadth,
courses require weekly or even fortnightly reading, as
well as other assignments such as small written
projects, basic research papers, and oral presentations
throughout the course. In the United States, your grade
will be based on your performance on various
assignments, and the final exam will only be a
percentage of your overall grade.

In the UK, most schools are more lecture-

oriented with only occasional assignments
during the semester. In some cases, the actual
assignment may be missing, and instead, the
entire grade may be based on one final exam.
