Introduction

 Isometric projection is a method to produce three-

dimensional object from information of orthographic
projection in engineering drawings.
 There are three different isometric projection:
axonometric, oblique, and perspective.

Types of Isometric Projection
Orthographic & Isometric
Projection Guideline
Multiview projection is
orthographic projection that is
based on visual rays parallel to
each other and perpendicular to
e
plane. pl
m
Axonometric projection is based sa
on visual rays parallel to each
other but incline to plane in angle.

Types of Isometric Projection

Isometric Projection Guideline

Oblique projection is based on
visual rays parallel to each other
and oblique to plane.
Perspective projection is based
e
on visual rays converge at pl

Axonometric Projection

Description Guideline
Axonometric projection is
characterised by three different
angle views: isometric, dimetric,
and trimetric.
e
They have different angle a, b, pl
m
and c with each other. sa

Axonometric Projection

Description Guideline
Isometric projection is the
popular projection that used in the
industry now.
It has 120 degree for a, b, and c.

Isometric Projection for Angle Construction

Step-by-Step Guideline
Step I: Check the dimension of
every part of the angle block.
Step II: Sketch a triangle block

(construction line) with its overall

e
dimension at 30 degrees using pl
m
2H pencil, triangles and ruler. sa
Step III: Check the top and side

view and cut the block

(construction line) with its cutting
size using 2H pencil. And finally,
darken the outline on the
construction line with 2B pencil.

Isometric Projection for Irregular Construction

Step-by-Step Guideline
Step I: Check the dimension of
every part of the angle block.
Step II: Sketch a triangle block

(construction line) with its overall

e
dimension at 30 degrees using pl
m
2H pencil, triangles and ruler. sa

Isometric Projection for Irregular Construction

Step-by-Step Guideline
Step I: After using procedure for
normal block and check the size
of inclined surface, cut the block
(construction line) into the surface
e
using 2H pencil. pl
m
Step II: And finally, darken the sa
outline on the construction line
with 2B pencil.

Isometric Projection for Circle with Lines

Step-by-Step Guideline
Step I: Check the dimension of x,
y for horizontal and a, b for
vertical and d for height using
parallel line method.
e
Step II: Sketch the block pl
m
(construction line) using 2H sa
pencil, triangles and ruler.
Step III: Using same parallel line

method, sketch the x, y and a, b

on the block.
Step IV: And then, darken the

ellipse and block using 2B pencil.

Isometric Projection for Circle with Compass

Step-by-Step Guideline
Step I: Check the diameter of
circle.
Step II: Sketch an isometric

square (construction line) using

e
2H pencil, triangles and ruler. pl
m
Step III: Create symmetrical sa
vertical line with 60 degree using
triangles again.

Isometric Projection for Circle with Compass

Step-by-Step Guideline
Step I: Check the diameter of
circle.
Step II: Sketch an original circle

and center mark (construction

e
line) using 2H pencil, triangles pl
m
and ruler. sa
Step III: Sketch the two opposite

right triangles (construction line).

Step IV: Create the ellipse that

touching all corner of the right

triangles and center mark using
compass and ruler.
