INJURIES
SPRAIN
These are overstretched ligaments.
The ligaments stabilized and limit
mobility.
ACL ( Anterior Cruciate
Ligament)
The ACL is a connective tissue that
helps stabilize the knee every time
the muscle contract.
STRAIN
These are the overused muscles. It is
a non contact injury that results
from over contractions.
FRACTURE
Is a broken bone. There are
different kind of fracture:
• Simple fractures, also called closed
fractures, are broken bones that remain
within the body and do not penetrate the
skin.
• Compound fractures, also called open
fractures, are broken bones that penetrate
through the skin and expose the bone and
deep tissues to the exterior environment.
• Comminuted fractures are severe fractures that
involve the breaking of a bone into several smaller
pieces.
• Greenstick fractures are breaks in bones along only
one side of the bone caused by a force perpendicular
to the bone’s long axis. Greenstick fractures are seen
only in children whose developing bones are more
flexible than adult bones and therefore tend to bend
and only partially break instead of breaking
completely.
DISLOCATION
The bone is pushed out of the proper
alignment and causes deformity. The
pain will be relieved once the bone is
repositioned.
CONCUSSION
These are life threatening injuries
because they disrupt the normal
function of the brain.
STRESS
FRACTURE
The repetitive workload creates
microtrauma- as thick as the strand
of hair- in the bone and gets bigger
over time..
TENDINOPATHY
It is due to muscle imbalance
between muscle pairs.
OSTEOARTHRITIS
It is the wear and tear of a joint that
results to its deterioration. The
friction deteriorates the cartilage
that protects the bones from
rubbing against each other.
BURSITIS
The inflammation of the bursa
interrupts the surrounding
structure, causing pain during
movement.
Achilles Tendon Rupture
Achilles tendon rupture is
an injury that affects the
back of your lower leg.
Rotator Cuff Injury
Rotator cuff strains or tears are
caused by overuse or acute injury.
The tendons that connect muscles
to bones can overstretch (strain)
or tear, partially or completely.
