File sharing is the practice of sharing or offering access to
digital information or resources, including documents,
multimedia (audio/video), graphics, computer programs,
images and e-books.
•It is the private or public distribution of data or resources
in a network with different levels of sharing privileges.
•File sharing can be done using several methods.
A shared folder is a folder that is used by your virtualization
software to access files on your local machine.
A shared drive (network drive) allows users to instantly
grant access to shared files from one computer to another.
A shared network drive operates on a Local Access Network
(LAN), a collection of devices operating in a physical
location like an office.
In a file sharing connection, there is a client computer (the
computer making the connection to a shared folder) and a
server computer (the computer with the shared folder). When
initiating the file sharing connection, the client computer sends a
set of connection credentials in the form of a username and an
encrypted password. The combination of the received
credentials, the type of file sharing used on the server, and the
set of permissions associated with the shared folder or printer
determine whether the connection will be allowed or denied.

groups or individuals, click Permissions to add the
appropriate groups or usernames.
6. If you are using NTFS, check the permissions in the Security tab

Because Security settings override Share permissions, it is possible
for people on the Permissions list to be denied access to the share
because they either are not specified or are denied specifically in
the Security list.

Note:FAT32 does not provide the same level of security as NTFS; if

you're using FAT32, you will not see the Security tab.

7. Click OK.
