• The journey of the blood(deoxygenated blood) begins from the right atrium and
goes to the right ventricle through the the valves
• Then through the pulmonary arteries and goes to the lungs
• In the lungs and goes through bronchi, bronchioles and goes to the capillaries
and the deoxygenated blood gets oxygenated from the oxygen we breath
• And then through the pulmonary arteries goest to the left atrium and goes to
the left ventricle
• Then goes to the whole body through the arteries and when the oxygenated
blood needs to go to a certain body part the arteries spreads out so that the
blood can easily go out

• The heart is divided into two parts, right and left. Let’s take a closer look at the right side.
The right side of the heart is divided into two parts:
Right Atrium
Right Ventricle
• The right atrium is located towards the top right portion of the heart.
• Over here there is deoxygenated blood or oxygen poor blood which comes from the veins
when the heart muscles relax.
• When the heart muscles relax further the deoxygenated blood flows from the right atrium to
the right ventricle.
• In the right ventricle there is deoxygenated blood or oxygen poor blood which flows to the
lungs where gas exchange occurs when the heart muscles contract.

• The left side of the heart is also divided into two parts , they are:
Left Atrium
Left ventricle
• The left atrium is where oxygen rich or oxygenated blood is received from the lungs
through the arteries when the heart muscles relax
• When the heart muscles relax further oxygenated blood from the left atrium flows into
the left ventricle
• Coming to the right ventricle , the right ventricle carries oxygenated blood to.
• It’s function is to flow blood out of the heart into the arteries to be carried back to the
various cells in organs throughout the body.
• This process happens when the muscles of the heart contract.
