THE CONCEPT OF
CONTINUITY
The definition above implies that three conditions must be satisfied for a function
f to be continuous at c. These are the following:
𝑎 . lim 𝑓 ( 𝑥) 𝑒𝑥𝑖𝑠𝑡𝑠 ;
𝑥→𝑐
𝑏 . 𝑓 ( 𝑐 ) 𝑒𝑥𝑖𝑠𝑡𝑠;𝑎𝑛𝑑
𝑐 . lim 𝑓 ( 𝑥)= 𝑓 ( 𝑐)
𝑥→𝑐
𝑎 . lim (2 𝑥 2+ 𝑥 − 1) ¿[ 2 ( 1 ) 2+1 − 1]
𝑥→ 1

𝑏 . 𝑓 ( 1 ) =2 𝑥 2 + 𝑥 − 1 ¿[ 2 ( 1 )2+1 − 1]
