CLASS POLICIES
Class Policies 1st Semester

Letran Calamba Collegiate Schools’ academic approaches are

designed to ensure continuous delivery of knowledge during this
health crisis by combining technology/online and modular
learning. These approaches facilitate the same quality and
dynamics that can be found in the traditional face-to-face
classroom setting.

At the Collegiate Schools, the learners are expected to be
resolute, organized, diligent, and motivated in their courses. More
importantly, they are expected to possess good netiquette.
Class Policies 1st Semester

“Good netiquette means conducting oneself in an

online class with the same respect, politeness
and professionalism that the learner would exhibit
in a real-life classroom.”

The following guidelines will allow an opportunity
to create a productive online learning
environment throughout the semester.
Class Policies 1st Semester

1. Be mindful that you are still in a classroom thus

established norms should be observed.

2. Wear proper uniform/decent outfit.
Observe the proper dress code. All learners are required
to wear their prescribed uniform (for old student) and/or
decent outfits (for new student) during the online
sessions.
Class Policies 1st Semester

3. Attend every class regularly and punctually starting from the

first day of school.

Log in the Blackboard Ultra 15 minutes before the schedule time.

The maximum allowable number of absences per grading period is not more than
20% (maximum of 3 - 4 sessions for a 3-unit course for TH and MWF, respectively)
of the school days except for valid reason. A learner who incurred more than 20%
of the number of school days is considered unofficially withdrawn (UW) from the
course unless otherwise decided by the Academic Head (to be subjected to due
process).

Three instances of tardiness in one course with no valid reasons are equivalent to 1
absence, and concerned learner shall be referred to the Guidance and Counseling
Services Office by the faculty member for counseling.
Class Policies 1st Semester
4. In case of connectivity problems, inform the concerned professor
through available means (text, thru classmates/friends, among others) to
get proper assistance and consideration.
• Ways to improve internet connection during online classes/examinations:
• Learners can coordinate with household members to ensure
dedicated time for internet use during online
classes/examinations;
• Ensure that other applications are closed;
• Turn off Wi-Fi connection in other gadgets; and,
• Trial Wi-Fi signal inside the house to identify spots with strong
connectivity.
• It is essential that you manage your time. Be organized and take ownership
of your own learning.
• Set aside specific time each day to focus on your coursework and studies.
Class Policies 1st Semester

5. Remember that your password in the LMS

(Blackboard Ultra) is the only thing protecting you
from pranks or more serious harm.
• Don't share your password with anyone.
• Change your password if you think someone
else might know it.
• Always log out when you are finished using the
system.
Class Policies 1st Semester
6. The effectiveness of learning always depends on the interest of
learners. Focus on the activities and participate in active learning.
• Upon entering the link, video needs to remain ON to promote focus.
• Avoid any disturbances. Use headsets to concentrate on the activities.
• As much as possible, designate/locate a place at home conducive for
learning.
• Remember that learners are not only assessed based on their
answers to questions but also on their ability to post questions that
triggers critical thinking and sensible group discussions.
• Do not multi-task. Focus on one activity at a time.
Class Policies 1st Semester
7. Observe class “house rules”.
• Silence /mute your microphone during the online class.
• Use the chatbox to ask questions or ask permission to speak only
when necessary.
• Observe the time alloted for online and offline activities.
• During online discussions, participate in activities in your course.
• Ask questions. Contact your professor (during consultation hours or
on agreed schedule) should you have course-related questions or you
need additional course-related support.
Class Policies 1st Semester
8. Be kind and professional.
• All learners must observe proper social media etiquette and are
enjoined to communicate in a professional manner.
• Use of foul or offensive language is strictly prohibited.
• Treat your professor and classmates with respect in email or any other
form of communication.
• Always be respectful of others’ opinions even when they differ from
your own.
• Use respectful greetings and signatures, full sentences and even the
same old “please” and “thank you” you use in real life.
• Be aware of strong language, all caps, and exclamation points. It
is easy for written text to be misread and misunderstood. Avoid using
all uppercase letters; this is often considered the equivalent of
shouting.
Class Policies 1st Semester
9. Think before you click.
• A passing comment spoken in class can be forgotten a few minutes
later but what you share in an online classroom becomes part of a
permanent digital record.

10. Observe correct grammar and spelling.

• In an educational setting, (even online) communication should be
formally delivered. Proper writing style should be reflected in written
communication.
• Use of abbreviated text or “colloquial/slang” language is strictly NOT
allowed.
Class Policies 1st Semester

11. Observe the following test-taking strategies:

• Carefully read instructions.
• Ensure a quiet environment and tell your housemates that you will
take a test.
• Be aware of the time limits.
• In case of internet connection problem during online examinations,
immediately report the matter to the concerned faculty member; however,
remember that learners are expected to have familiarized themselves
with the existing college/faculty protocols prior to the scheduled
examinations.
Class Policies 1st Semester

12. Be mindful of your submittals/requirements.

• Learners shall submit the required assessment tasks. In some cases,
the faculty member may suggest a modification for special
circumstances.
• All outputs will be checked and feedback will be provided immediately.
• Rubrics and/or checklist will be used by the faculty member to
evaluate the learner’s output/competencies.
• Keep an ePortfolio (copies of homework/output).
• Log in the Blackboard Ultra from time to time to participate in
discussion forums, to share ideas or ask questions, and to upload
homework/s.
Class Policies 1st Semester

13. Avoid cheating and plagiarism.

• Plagiarism means using words, ideas, or arguments from another
person or source without citation. Cite all sources consulted to any
extent (including material from the internet), whether or not assigned
and whether or not quoted directly. It is proper to acknowledge the
source or reference whenever you share an idea that originated from
someone else. For quotations, four or more words used in sequence
must be set off in quotation marks, with the source identified.

• Learners who copy assignments, allow assignments to be copied, or

cheat on tests will fail the assignment or test on the first offense, and
fail the entire course on the second.
Class Policies 1st Semester

14. Be aware of the Classroom Recording Policy.

• The video lectures/discussions are recorded and the corresponding
links will be posted in the Blackboard Ultra so that learners can
access the lessons anytime for review.
• The recorded video lectures posted by the faculty members are for
the learners’ personal academic use only and may not be distributed
in any manner or form to other individuals.
• Learners shall not record (audio or video) the online
lectures/discussions without proper consent/permission from their
professors.
