FIRE DETECTION

AND
EXTINGUISHING ROBOT
Fire Detector and Extinguisher Robot
is operated to detect the fire and also
to extinguish it. It can be operated in
two modes one is manual mode and
other is autonomous mode.
Manual mode is operated using an
app and for autonomous mode there
is no human intervention.

1
INTRODUCTION
 Fire incident is a disaster that can potentially cause property damage
and harm human life.
 In recent times fire safety has become an important issue for both
residential and industrial areas.
 Fire accidents cause losses of properties and goods worth 4834 crores
per year.
 Robots are designed to remove the human factor from labor-intensive
or dangerous work and to act in an inaccessible environment.
 This prototype robot is a hardware and Software based model used to
detect and extinguish the fire automatically during fire accidents.
 This project will be an additional boost to the firemen without making
risking their lives.
2
MOTIVATION
 Firefighters are being exposed to various hazardous situations.
In most of the situations they may not know exact scenario of
their working place.
 Fire accidents are difficult to handle by humans, this equipment
can reduce that up to a certain extent.
 Air pollution is a big concern when the fire is not extinguished
as soon as possible.
 The Robot is designed to be compact in size than other
conventional firefighting robot.
 In order to ease small location entry for deeper reach of
extinguishing fire in narrow space as soon as possible.

METHODOLOGY
 Arduino is the Microcontroller which makes use of Flame sensor to
detect any fire.
 Ultrasonic sensor detects any obstacle in the path. If an obstacle is
detected, the robot will take either left or right whichever direction
is free.
 If there is any fire detected, the pump will be activated and sprays
the water on the fire until the flame detector senses no more fire.
 The camera on the robot which acts as a Wi-Fi access point will
capture and transmit images for live monitoring.
 The Bluetooth module communicates with the application installed
in the smartphone which is used to control the robot wireless.

11
CONCLUSION

 The Robot Prototype is prepared with a budget of 2100 Rs.

 Experimental results are carried out for a four wheel mobile
robot to illustrate the proposed methodology.
 Bluetooth and Wi-Fi are the communication technologies used
in this robot.
 Great help to fire fighters and not only saves the property, it
saves people lives.
 This robot In conclusion, our approach of modular design
strategy was a good solution in implementing the fire
extinguishing robot as it made it easier for individuals to work
on their tasks independently.
12
ADVANTAGES
 Reduce human effort, reliable and economical.
 It reduces the errors and the limitations that are faced by
Fire fighters.
 Capability of sensing accurately with increased flexibility.
 Sensors have long life time and less cost.

APPLICATIONS
 The robot will be used at places where it is dangerous and
inaccessible for humans to enter.
 It reduces the time delay in reaching fire affected area.

FUTURE SCOPE
 GPS can be added to detect the fire location and direct the
robot to a nearby accident zone for help. 13
