TECHNOLOGY IN THE CLASSROOM

1. How often do you meet your friends and how do

you stay in touch?
o We arrange meetings once a week by letters,
and when the day comes I walk over to their
house.
o Me and my friends from Second Life spend
night and day with each other.
o I call my friends spontaneously and we meet in
a cafe.
o I've got IM installed on my computer, so I chat
with them all day.
2. How do you get your food?
o I call the pizza service - their number is saved
on my cell phone.
o I only have to use a keyboard shortcut and ten
minutes later the hot pizza will pop out my CD
drive.
o I always try new recipes from my large
collection of cookbooks.
o I order my favourite pizza at pizza24.com!

3. When was the last time you read a book?

o Actually, I am reading this fantastic book at the
moment, which I bought in a beautiful small
bookshop.
o I am not interested in books, but I had to read
one for school last year. It was terrible!
o I do not read very much, although I think it is
enjoyable to sit down with a glass of wine and
read a good book.
o I’ve heard that books exist, but I find them a
little counter-intuitive.
4. When was the last time you played a non-digital
game, such as chess?
o Chess? Isn't that the new WoW add-on?
o What does digital mean?
o I can't remember the last time I played a non-
digital game. If I had such a memory, it probably
got lost the last time my hard drive crashed.
o My family has a games night every Sunday. It’s
great fun!

Skills
INTEGRATING THE FOUR SKILLS

PAGE 10
WHY INTEGRATE
THE SKILLS?
 1. Production and reception should not be
separated.

 2. Interaction = sending + receiving messages.

 3. Written and spoken language are often closely
related.

 4. In many cases, one skill will reinforce another.

 5. In reality, most of our natural performance

involves the integration of the skills as well as
the way we think, feel, and act.
