Class, our lesson for today is all about the use of pitch and
intonation correctly.
PITCH refers to the high and low levels of sound when speaking.
There are four levels of pitch that are often used to show
difference in meaning. These are:
1. Low
2. Normal
3. High
4. Very High

LOOK!
RUN!
INTONATION refers to the rise and fall in the sound of your voice
when you speak.
In sentences: stress the nouns and let the tone fall at the end
of the sentence. Example: Our school is located near the
market.
Intro Phrase: When you want to preface or emphasize your
statement, use a rising tone. Example: Mother told me not
to go there.
Listing: With more than one item in a list, all but the last one
have a rising tone. Example: My favourite fruits are apple,
orange and grapes.
D. DEVELOPING MASTERY/DEEPENING
Now this is your time to apply what you have learned from
our discussion. Two persons will be speaking with each other
using the pitch and intonation correctly. That means, you must
find your pair for this activity. There would be words, phrases or
sentences to be flashed on screen and the first pair who is sitting
at the right side will be the first to speak. I will be giving 5 seconds
for the first speaker to practice silently what he/she is supposed to
say. On my cue, you will speak.
Is it clear?
Yes sir!
The same instructions will be applied to the second speaker!
But, wait there would be a challenge, you will converse
using these walkie-talkies. Meaning, I will be calling a pair.
Am I understood? Yes sir!

burning!
First Speaker: Mother, what will I do? Our

somebody is inside your house wearing bonnet and

and call the police!

like for dinner.

like me to cook for dinner.

foods— chicken adobo, pork afritada and beef
stake.
4. Your mother called you because you are not in your
room at 12:00 midnight.
