DETAILED LESSON PLAN IN GRADE – 7


I. Objectives: At the end of the lesson, students should be able to:
1. identify the four types of sentences according to function;
2. use different types of sentences (declarative, interrogative, imperative,
exclamatory); and

II. Subject Matter:

Topic: Four Types of Sentences (EN3G-Ib-1)

Curriculum.
Value Focus: Appreciate the Functions of Sentences
Materials:
 Visual Aids: puzzle words, marker, lined cartolina, pictures.

Good morning class. Good morning, Sir!

By the way I’m your Sir Readem Daliva but


you can also call me Sir Red.

How are you? Are you having a great day ? Yes, Sir!

Great! But we can make that greater. So,


before we are going to start with our lesson for
today, let us have first a short time for activity.

I will group you into four and I will give pieces


of papers with words written on it. You will be (The students will listen while the teacher is
asked to arrange the words in order to make a giving the instruction)
sentence.

Are you ready?

Yes, sir.
Okay. Please collaborate with your assigned
group. (The students will go to their assigned groups)

The correct word arrangement:

Philippines is rich in natural resources. (DECLARATIVE SENTENCE)


Where are you from? (INTERROGATIVE SENTENCE)
Please turn off the lights. (IMPERATIVE SENTENCE)
That is wonderful! (EXCLAMATORY SENTENCE)

C. Presentation of the Lesson/Discussion:

FOUR TYPES OF SENTENCES

Declarative Sentence states a fact or opinion and ends with a period. ( . )


Example: I love my dog.
 
Interrogative Sentence asks a question and ends with a question mark. ( ? )
Example: Where do these flowers grow?

Imperative Sentence expresses a request or gives a command or direction. It also ends


with a period or exclamation mark. ( . ) ( ! )
Example: Feed my dog.

Exclamatory Sentence conveys emotion and ends with an exclamation mark. ( ! )


Example: I can’t believe it! We won!

IV. Application.

Since you do now understand our lesson, I


prepared an activity for you.

Our activity is called “Picture the sentence”

Are you excited? Yes sir!

Mechanics

I want you to go with your group earlier.

Using the pictures that will be given to you, I


want you to form different types of sentences
declarative, interrogative, imperative and
exclamatory sentences. The sentence should be
related to the picture.
I know that you want to choose a picture that
you wanted, but let’s make it fair. I have here a
folded paper strips that has written number
designated with the pictures. All you have to
do is to pick one, and make a sentence out of it.

Are you ready? Yes sir!

Okay let’s start.

Possible sentences

1. DOG

Declarative: Dog is man’s best friend.


Interrogative: What is the dog’s name?
Imperative: Take that dog away from me!
Exclamatory: OMG! That dog is amazing!

2. DANIEL PADILLA

Declarative: Daniel is a nice person.


Interrogative: How old is he?
Imperative: Please give me his number.
Exclamatory: Daniel is going to Capiz!

3. HOUSE

Declarative: This house is mine.


Interrogative: Who is the owner of the house?
Imperative: Buy this house for me!
Exclamatory: Wow! That house is huge!

4. CAR

Declarative: This car is expensive.


Interrogative: How much for this car?
Imperative: I want that car!
Exclamatory: I love this car!

VI. Assignment
Directions: In Interrogative sentence, write 2 questions that you would like to ask to the
President. In Imperative sentence, write 2 requests in complete sentences that you have for the
Principal. In Exclamatory sentence, write 2 sentences that show that you are excited about the
summer. In Declarative sentence, write 2 sentences about school in complete sentence.
